Position Summary

At Jacobs our Mechanical Designerswork on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Lead Engineer.This position will play a role in the entire design process including but notlimited to preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, problemresolution, drawing and specification production, and customer and vendoraccessibility. The Designer may work on several concurrent projects and attimes may assist as a technical expert on a specialized design

  • Facilitates design concepts;prepares documents during design development phase and detail design phases.

  • Prepare engineering studies andschematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.

  • Uses computer aided designtechnologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents.

  • Works with equipmentsuppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.

  • Interacts with clients regularlyto secure scope and design intent.

  • Ensure acceptable levels ofquality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect designintent and necessary coordination.

  • Coordinate all aspects of projectdocument completion within company and externally with clients and other designprofessionals.

  • Coordinates design work withrelated engineering disciplines.

  • Attend job and constructionmeetings and participate in the coordination of the work.

Qualifications

  • Technical or Associate Degree froman accredited technical institution or college in mechanical engineering/designRequired

  • Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems required

  • 0 - 2 years of experience in aMEP Design Environment Required

  • Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD orother mechanical software Required

  • Has a demonstrated ability tosolve problems, communicate effectively to all key personnel, manage timeefficiently, and produce correct design within budgeted time Preferred

  • PreviousMEP Design experience required
