Job ID : 430215 Job Description: Acara Solutions is helping our defense customer find a direct salaried Electrical Engineer in Bothell, WA Supports internal and external funded programs by designing and validating electronics subsystems used in guided munitions. This includes designing mixed-signal modules for guidance control and actuator control, as well as designing external modules used to “set” pre-launch data. Works as part of a small dedicated engineering team to design, prototype, and test mixed-signal circuits and sub-systems for guided munitions applications. Evaluates and confirms customer specifications including interface details, power budget, volume claim, mission profile, environmental, EMC, and other regulatory requirements. Architects and models systems based on performance requirements. Designs mixed-signal circuits including microcontroller systems, Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS), conducted emissions filters, analog and digital filters, high-speed serial interfaces, telemetry systems, interstage matching for RF modules and data logging circuits. Writes, tests, and debugs firmware for microcontroller-based designs. Oversees or conducts board layout of PCBAs using Altium Designer; performs Design Rules Check and creates board stack-up. Participates/leads initial, preliminary and critical design reviews; documents design reviews. Participates in Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) reviews to validate manufacturability and cost model. Selects/validates components and creates source control documents as needed. Documents interface specifications, schematics functional block diagram, design philosophy, BOM and manufacturing data (Gerber files, ODB++ files, hex files for firmware, etc.) for each module. Works with the engineering team to define the test requirements for electronic modules and systems for specific programs as directed. Works with Test Engineering group to create detailed test programs to verify performance of electrical sub-systems over the needed range of environmental conditions (such as temperature cycling, repetitive shocks, random vibration, sine vibration, and pyrotechnic shock). Works with Manufacturing Engineers to design method(s) of testing PCBA modules, such has built in self-test (BIST), boundary scan testing, and dedicated board-level testers.
