Job Description

The Research Strategist plays a key role managing clients, thought leadership, business development and project coordination, for individual clients and a wide range of special projects across the firm. This person can divine, define and create end-to-end solutions to client needs, including investment strategies, differential value analyses, our proprietary portfolio modeling and PPMs, among others.

The Research Strategist is a leader and a manager who owns the problems and the solutions, and can build teams across the firm to achieve business ends.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Management or back-up management for a minimum of ten Advisory accounts, acting as the key manager on at least five accounts
  • Provide expert advice and creative solutions/deliverables to meaningfully impact a client’s business.
  • Interact with consultants/analysts to both keep abreast of recent and expected market trends, as well as, provide responses to Advisory client inquiries
  • Publish minimum of three works per year including at least one white paper (RE/PS) and additional works that can be either industry articles or second white paper (RE/PS)
  • Speak at a minimum of five CRE industry events per year
  • Contribute to Client Update series
  • Manage and contribute content to at least one property type Big Book
  • Participate in/contribute content for quarterly client webinars
  • Actively participate in Advisory sales processes/business development
  • Support firm-wide initiatives at the direction of senior management
  • Develop, consult, and transform leveraged research into standalone Advisory offerings and client tools
  • Extensive travel expected

Job Prerequisites:

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in producing actionable recommendations in the areas of portfolio management, asset management, investor relations, market selection, and risk management
  • Demonstrated competencies in four major U.S. property types
  • Excellent project management skills with proven ability to lead an ad hoc team of analysts in creative problem solving and custom Advisory client deliverables
  • Demonstrated client management skills
  • Ability to create the strategy and apply it all the way down to the individual submarket and building class for every property type
  • Well-developed presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated experience publishing for a CRE audience
  • Minimum seven years direct CRE experience
  • Graduate degree or CFA preferred
  • Basic modeling and econometric analysis/forecasting skills with the ability to draw relevant and actionable conclusions from large data sets
