The Beverage Manager position requires a food and beverage service professional with bartending experience, exceptional service skills, and a passion for providing elevated member and guest experiences. This individual will be responsible for the overall operational success of the beverage department and continuous improvement of bar operations and overall dining experience.
Primary Job Duties:
Manage the business aspects of the bar, including negotiating supplier contracts, weekly and monthly inventories, maintaining vendor relations, accurately tracking operating supply expenses, and setting goals.
Manage staff, including recruiting, training, coaching, and disciplinary action as needed to create an exceptional team.
Create effective schedules and quickly resolve conflicts to ensure that the bar is appropriately staffed.
Proactively manage the bar area by identifying and assigning tasks as needed to ensure that bartenders are engaged throughout the shift.
Work with diverse personalities both on the staff and guest and members.
Resolve member and guest complaints and/or issues related to service.
Maintain a fun, safe atmosphere for members and guests.
Set and enforce quality and safety controls.
Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate changes or updates in restaurant function.
Ensure station set-ups are complete and fully stocked with required items including spirits, beer, mixes, garnishes, fresh juices, and wines.
Have a complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, ingredients and quality standards of taste, appearance, serving temperature, portion size, garnish and method of presentation.
First point of contact and resource for associates for any point-of-sale system questions regarding placing orders, etc.
Build and maintain par levels for all beverages across all F&B outlets.
Lead the direction of the Moonlight Basin experience by identifying growth opportunities for the Director of F&B.
Develop, initiate, and grow the retail wine business.
Work closely with the Director of F&B and the Executive Chef to create unique wine and drink pairings for dinner services and events.
Assist with menu creation, menu prices, special events, and creatively drive business to the outlet in order create a competitive advantage
Assist with bartending duties as needed.
Elevate issues as necessary to management following the F&B department chain of command.
Be committed to continuing education and staying well-informed of the trends in the industry.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a bartender preferably in high-end private club operations and/ or hospitality.
Knowledge of food presentation and handling.
Proficiency with point-of-sale systems.
Ability to interact professionally and effectively influence team members.
Ability to communicate clearly and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
Knowledge of local and state regulations related to alcohol service and health code compliance.
High school or equivalent education required.
Must comply with Moonlight Basin’s Dress and Grooming policies
Experience with Jonas.
Previous supervisor or management experience.
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management.
Expected Hours of Work
Punctuality and regular attendance required.
Must be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays.
This is a full time, year-round position.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and move frequently from area to area.
Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach with hands and arms.
Ability to carry and balance dishware/ glassware during service.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
