E2’s Consulting Engineers’ Oil, Gas & Utilities Division (OGUD) Eastern U.S. Region is experiencing a period of strong growth. To ensure this Division capitalizes on the opportunities before it, we are seeking an experienced Pipeline Engineer for our Atlanta, Georgia office of our OGUD Eastern U.S. Region.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Major Projects, this position is critical to the performance and development of E2’s pipeline design for ILI retrofit services for our clients, and requires the successful individual to have experience and knowledge in gas transmission code compliance, risk management, pipeline and facility design, and pipeline integrity management. The position will work closely with project managers and engineering managers throughout E2’s Eastern Region.

This position supports the overall Risk Management and Integrity Management goals and objectives of our clients and help ensure that our design teams are clearly aligned with our clients focus on pipeline safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or oversee pipeline-related engineering work products (calculations, design, specifications, etc.)

  • Identify, plan and schedule engineering and design tasks required within the project

  • Ensure that all engineering work is done in accordance with applicable regulations, codes and, E2’s and client’s policies and procedures

  • Provide quality control checks of all pipeline engineering documents

  • Participate in project scoping and cost estimates; and

  • Provide pipeline routing and facility design requirements

Perform or supervise preparation of:

  • Design Basis Memorandum, design specifications and procedures

  • Preliminary Engineering Reports

  • Pipeline stress calculations

  • Hydrostatic pressure test calculations and plans

  • Cost Estimates

  • Pipe sizing calculations

  • Bill of Materials (BOM)

Review and provide engineering input guidance for:

  • Plan and profile alignment sheets

  • Permit drawings (road, railroad, and waterbody crossings)

  • Typical detail drawings

  • Hydrostatic test drawings

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) drawings

  • Grading Plans and Site-specific drawings

  • QA/QC deliverables

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a U.S.-based ABET accredited program

  • Project Management experience preferred

  • E.I.T. preferred

  • Strong Written and Oral communication skills

Job Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in natural gas and refined product pipeline engineering

  • Pipeline operations and pipeline construction experience a plus

  • Familiar with relevant codes and regulations, including 49 CFR Part 192 and/or 195, ASME B31.4, B31.8, B31.8s, NACE SP0502, API 1110 and 1163

  • Familiar with energy pipeline industry practices and permitting requirements for pipeline design and construction

  • Experience with pipeline modeling software, engineering tool box, and Microsoft Project is a plus

  • Self-motivated, independent worker with strong initiative and a can-do attitude

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with computers in an engineering environment including MS Office products; knowledge of GIS is a plus

  • Must demonstrate through experience the ability to successfully execute projects from inception thru completion

  • U.S. citizenship or legal residency
