JOB SUMMARY: A Banquet server must come to work ready to perform many tasks, including setup, bringing food from kitchen and serving meals to guests according to well established rules of etiquette, and breakdown. Also performs various incidental duties to furnish exemplary service. Must keep equipment and service area in clean and orderly fashion and abide by health and safety standards at all times. Must be able to focus on the job at hand while staying on your feet and moving about freely, which can include bending, climbing stairs and carrying items weighing 25-50 lbs.
Ensures that all members and guests receive proper, attentive, courteous, and expedient service in a clean and pleasant atmosphere.
Report to Banquet Manager for instructions; attend daily staff meetings in order to ensure established and new methods of etiquette in service and to familiarize yourself with the menu.
Must be able to read and execute a BEO.
Serve and clear food and beverages quietly, professionally, and quickly.
Coordinate actions with the banquet team members, and all other members of the front and back of the house to ensure flawless customer service.
Must be able to take orders, make suggestions about various dishes, wines, beverages and have full knowledge of P.O.S. (point of sale) and its operation.
Transfer food 'hot' from the kitchen to dining room and be able to serve and remove dishes the proper way as instructed.
Assist in serving assorted 'hot' rolls with salad and main courses.
Serve drinks and pour wines for guests upon request. Proper wine service standards are required.
Perform individually assigned side jobs according to specifications.
Ensure that all side stands are clean and well stocked.
Assist Banquet Manager as instructed.
Must give excellent service and attention to all guests and immediately correct deficiencies where noted.
Other duties as assigned.
Customer service or waiter experience is a good foundation for a job as a banquet server and is preferred, but not required.
Must understand proper service to use for all occasions and possess a complete and
up-to-date knowledge of etiquette.
Must present a neat appearance and maintain good grooming & proper personal hygiene.
Must be available to work Holidays as this is a requirement.
Must have a warm and cheerful personality.
TACT AND GOOD JUDGEMENT is especially beneficial characteristics.
Must be attentive, use fine language and be able to accept responsibility.
Must be a team player and possess good people skills
Must be able to multi-task.
Must be able to work both Banquet & Club Events. Both of these events do sometimes require working in outdoor conditions.
