Polaris Alpha, a Parsons Company is conducting a search for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Streaming Analytics Prototype team. This Engineer will be working with a small team prototyping solutions within a distributed streaming analytic framework. Work will be focused within the IBM InfoSphere Streams platform employing the agile methodology. Ideal candidate is a self-starter and individual contributor capable of managing and executing development activities with minimal oversight. Must also be able to present ongoing activities and findings to senior technical leadership; realigning expectations or objectives as needed.

• Four years in increasingly complex and progressive experience as a SWE in performing systems analysis, development, and implementation of software systems, to include the development and design of application software for prototyping, production, and architecture products

• Six years in the DoD/IC in performing systems analysis, development, and implementation of software systems, to include the development and design of application software for prototyping, production, and architecture products

• Experience including software management, design, development, flow analysis, detailed design data flow diagrams, structure charts, and PDL’s for each module of the software system

• Four years of experience in five of the following specializations: UNIX or Windows Software Development, Programming Languages (C, C++, Java, Perl), Object Oriented Design, Graphical User Interface, Database Management, Communication Protocols/Networks, Database Development (OO or Relational), Web Technologies (JavaScript, XML, J2EE), Business Object Modeling, Systems Interfacing

• Agile or SW Prototype Development

• Four years’ experience developing in C++ or Java

• Three years’ experience with IBM InfoSphere Streams,

• Two years’ experience working with network data and protocols, including but not limited to DNS, TCP, netflow and SNORT

• One year experience decomposing analytical problems into stateless components ideal for conversion to run in the streaming paradigm

• Experience with the following technologies and areas: Streams Processing Language (SPL), Java, C++, Perl, UNIX/Linux, Shell scripting, TCP/UDP Protocols, Streaming Analytics; Network protocols, visualization

• Cyber experience within DoD and/or Intelligence Community preferred but not required

• Knowledge and understanding of security policies regarding the handling of classified material

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain or currently possess Top Secret SCI Poly clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university desired

• Master’s degree in an Information Technology related field, such as computer engineering, computer science, math, or physics from an accredited college or university desired

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Normal office setting, therefore the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. Use of hands to operate computer equipment. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
