Position Summary:The Nursing Resource Center (NRC) skills labs operate with the assistance of a nursing school graduate or nursing student in their last semester. This position helps to ensure the NRC runs smoothly by setting up and cleaning up scheduled labs, keeping inventory, assisting students during open labs, and various other duties as assigned by the NRC Coordinator.

This is a temporary position for the Graduate Lab Assistant.

Duties:

The UAA School of Nursing currently has a job opening for theGraduate Lab Assistantposition in theNursing Resource Center(NRC).

The schedule for this position is flexible, depending on the needs of the labs and the student worker's school schedule. This is a part-time, temporary position, with up to 29 hours per week.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the student lab assistant with setting up/cleaning up the nursing skills labs for students and instructors

  • Assisting instructors with various needs during labs

  • Helping students during open labs

  • Keeping inventory of supplies

  • Various other duties as assigned by the NRC Coordinator

Job applicants must:

  • Be a nursing student graduate or a nursing student in their last semester

  • Have excellent organizational skills

  • Be reliable

  • Have a flexible schedule

  • Have familiarity with medical equipment/supplies

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to explain learned nursing procedures to students.

Familiarity with medical supplies, materials, and equipment

Strong organizational skills.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent time management skills.

Ability to complete assigned tasks in an efficient manner.

Ability to work effectively on a team, as well as independently.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

BS/AAS nursing student graduate or BS/AAS nursing student in their last semester.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Experience receiving direction and delegated tasks from coworkers.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

Ability to explain learned nursing procedures to students.

Familiarity with medical supplies, materials, and equipment

Strong organizational skills.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent time management skills.

The pay rate is$16.15/hr.
