Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Iowa State University Library is looking to fill an exciting collaborative position with the Ames Public Library to develop, plan and implement effective library programs, events, exhibits, and outreach activities. This position will coordinate promotion and publicity related to programs, events and exhibits. They will collaborate with library staff and others to deliver experiences for target audiences based on needs and interests. They will present shared and separate programming for both libraries and through outreach commensurate with community needs and the missions of the two institutions. They will engage with community members, presenters and other professionals to facilitate effective partnerships that result in programs, events, exhibits, and outreach activities. They will represent the libraries in the community by making presentations and advocating for them through written materials and various media, including social media, radio and television. They will lead an events planning team and may supervise other events professionals, and direct the workflow of interns, program assistants, and volunteers. They will assist in the preparation of an annual budget for programming, events, and exhibits and will monitor expenditures.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 6 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
