Job Responsibilities

  • Operates mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, edger's, shredders, and mulchers. Performs minor repairs on grounds equipment.

  • Under supervision plants, fertilizes, prunes and provides general care of shrubs and lawns; assists in upkeep of irrigation system, drainage system, and removal of refuse from campus.

  • Under supervision assists in other projects related to grounds keeping such as building forms for sidewalks, edging for shrubbery beds. Assists with maintenance and basic trades duties on main campus and off campus Centers as directed.

  • Operates vehicles on and off campus as necessary to support the grounds keeping operations.

  • Under supervision assists in painting, places signage on campus, and maintaining and repairing parking lots and sidewalks. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

A high school diploma; or 10th grade education and one (1) year related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of safety practices relevant to grounds and maintenance. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in grounds and maintenance. Knowledge of techniques, methods and practices used in grounds and maintenance. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must possess a valid SC driver's license. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to work outside in a various weather conditions. Ability to work in confined spaces. During adverse weather or emergency conditions, the employee may be called in to work alternative hours to restore college operations to normal state.
