_Job Summary:_

Position is responsible for supporting and promoting business lines by developing and deploying various communications strategies for internal and external audiences. This communications professional must have proven experience in counseling and influencing senior executives; background in Corporate Real Estate is a plus. This position requires exceptional writing and editing skills on par with that of a seasoned journalist. It also requires someone with strong media relations and public policy acumen, particularly with respect to the ability to assess opportunities, make well-reasoned recommendations and see initiatives through with minimal oversight.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will have experience producing various communications including, but not limited to: news releases, talking points, Q&A documents, speeches/remarks, biographies, leadership messages, news articles for internal and external publications, social media postings, web content and other materials. Provide communications support for internal conferences, live meetings, or trade/industry functions, as well as build relationships with key media. Produce select corporate/business line video content and messaging. Keep abreast of news and trends that impacts the banking and financial services industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop integrated communication plan(s) for each Line of Business (LOB) for which the person is responsible.

  • Plan(s) should include media relations strategies and tactics, internal communications (Bridge), leadership communications (i.e., organizational announcements, etc.), communications strategies and tactics to support customer experience initiatives (where applicable), communications strategies and tactics to support change management efforts, and more as necessary.

  • Execute plan activities in a timely, cost-effective and efficient manner by project managing deliverables.

  • Align communications plans to LOBs business plan.

  • In addition to the formal planning process, consistently develop and present creative and strategic communications recommendations to key stakeholders within LOB in support of their business objectives and in support of bank goals.

  • Seek opportunities to build relationships with ECA members and their direct reports who are attached to the LOB, as well as key LOB colleagues in the following roles: strategy, marketing, sales, risk, legal, compliance and others.

  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of communications programs and strategies. Monitor effectiveness of campaigns to make future recommendations. Communicate results to management and track results for KPI purposes.

  • Provide communications support to LOB in times of crisis and special situations (i.e., technology error that causes customer confusion, data or privacy breach, etc.). Issues often occur after business hours and require communications director to mobilize quickly and bring other colleagues in for support, as necessary.

  • Provide communications support to company during M&A activity and other special initiatives that may be outside of the direct LOB realm, as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of 20 yearsof combined experience in corporate communications, either in a corporate communications division or at a consultancy. Prior experience with a publicly traded and/or financial services company, such as insurance, banking and/or investment management, is preferred.

  • Must be a persuasive communicator, capable of writing clearly and concisely, and able to present effectively; who will use sound judgment to gather, manage and impart information to the media and various other internal and external audiences consistent with the bank’s messages and positioning.

  • Provide basic media training/interview coaching to mid-level executives (branch managers, regional managers, market presidents, etc.).

Education/Certifications:

B.S. or B.A. in English, Journalism, Marketing Communications or related field. Advanced degree is highly desirable, but not required.
