Working from blueprints, schematics, inspection criteria and other manufacturing and engineering documentation inspect at the in-process or completed condition a variety of electronics parts, assemblies and equipment such as printed circuit boards, flex circuitry, solar assemblies/arrays, flight hardware subassemblies and top assemblies, vehicle harnesses and ground support cables and ground support equipment for workmanship and manufacturing process conformity. Visually review and compare with acceptable standards such processes and assembly operations as registration, plating, mechanical operations, soldering, brazing, welding, swaging, wire wrap, lugging, splicing, routing, encapsulation, torquing and final assembly as related to electrical and electronics hardware.
Witness or perform manual hi-pot and continuity operations on wiring.
Inspect the incorporation of design changes as required.
Stamp or otherwise approve acceptable items, reject unacceptable items and prepare all necessary documentation.
Use information processing equipment as required to perform the above tasks.
Note: Must be willing to work first, second and third shifts, weekends, and holidays depending on union contractual requirements. Individual will reside in the Solar Array assembly area with as required support of Mechanisms and Point of Use Receiving Inspection areas.
Basic Qualifications Experience in electronics assembly and processes as required to meet the mechanic level of electrical/electronics assembly classifications including knowledge of inspection requirements as gained from completion of a 50 hour course of study in Inspection Principles and Techniques as presented by local training facilities. Must be certified to inspect solder, wire wrap, crimp and welded module.
This position will be located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired skills ERP/SAP,VECAMS, Planning, Test, Mechanical, Solar Array, and receiving inspection experience. Current certifications in Braze, Adhesive Bonding, Polymerics, Solder, Cable/Harness, Torque, and Mate/Demate desired.
A general knowledge of Quality requirements to support Solar Array manufacturing and Mechanisms production is preferred. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications, use of computer resources to access specifications, engineering, and communicate effectively with others with minimal assistance is desired.
Basic knowledge of blueprints, engineering data, work instructions, specifications and standards used in the acceptance and rejection of hardware is desired.
