Description/Job Summary

St. Louis Residential engages in the shared living model. We truly approach the companion and host family model with the idea that it is a shared home and shared life. The residents must be managed differently than traditional shift approaches. Respect of each home's routines and rituals is paramount. Each person supported and their companion or host family must feel that it is their home, and not a place of business. Even though the goal is support approach, we believe that each person's support structure should be individually designed, and be a direct reflection of a person's needs and desired lifestyle.

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals in pursuing community based interests

  • Help to maximize independence, expand friendships and natural supports

  • Explore leisure opportunities

  • Assist the individual with selecting community resources of their choice and provide support as needed during that activity

Desired Qualities / Abilities:

  • Applicant must be positive, supportive, responsible, open-minded, flexible, patient, person-centered and can be a role model

  • Must have a desire to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a community setting and have a sincere interest in the well-being of the individuals.

  • Must be a good listener and have the ability to gently and positively re-direct individuals from problematic behaviors without being dictoral.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

  • Must successfully complete all required training

  • Show proof of valid Driver's License and liability insurance on vehicle

  • Agree to a criminal and social services background check
