TCF Bank Operations Specialist III - IRA - Sioux Falls, SD in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Responsible for processing routine and non-routine work in a prioritized order. Ensures that work is completed within prescribed deadline. Handles situations where greater risk to the Bank is escalated to this position for resolution.
Major Areas of Accountability
Handles multiple complex tasks simultaneously while adhering to TCF Corporate policies and/or Federal Regulations.
Final escalation of exceptions to normal processing before involving next level of management.
May identify individual training needs and work one-on-one with individuals to ensure job expectations are met.
Communicate with both internal and/or external customers on more complex issues.
May communicate potential training issues to department supervisor/manager.
Ma perform in the function of support to cover areas where turnover has created production problems.
Identify processing inefficiencies and make recommendations to area management for enhancements.
May act in leadership role in absence of Coordinator and/or Supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities Specific to this Position
Use multiple vendor software systems and reports to accomplish a variety of daily tasks
Review and key rate changes
Work with Contact Center, branches and outside vendors to resolve customer inquiries and issues
Review and process IRA forms and plan transactions such as account opening, contributions, distributions, withholding and RMD set ups
Manually calculate Required Minimum Distribution payments and establish distribution schedules in accordance with IRA regulations
Review, prepare and correct annual IRA related tax forms
Understand and adhere to IRS regulations as they pertain to retirement accounts
Assist with year-end processing and report review
Prepare packets and scan documents into image archive system
High school education, GED, or equivalent work experience
12 months combined experience as an Operations Specialist I and/or II; or 18 months comparable work experience
Ability to apply abstract concepts to accounting functions
Ability to deal with multiple problems involving several variables in different situations
Ability to communicate with various levels of management and employees within organization
Good written communication skills to construct reports, memos and proposals
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently, with limited direction from supervisor
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures and regulations
Strong PC (Excel/Word or other applicable software)
Good understanding of TCF and all operations environment
Proficient with PC’s (Excel and Word software)
1-2 years Teller experience
1-2 years IRA experience
Some Accounting/Bookkeeping training
