In addition, Dell is continuing to invest, creating a Service Provider Solutions organization to lead the shift to service provider driven solutions. This organization will leverage the largest portfolio of compute, storage, networking, systems software and global services capability in the industry, and develop solutions that help service providers manage, operate, and automate their businesses through technology distuption.


  • Participates as needed in pre-sales qualification and delivery of technical architectural design, strategies and plans for engagements. Assists in the creation of proposals that address current and evolving client requirements. Identifies and communicates visible sales leads or opportunities to engagement manager. Establishes relationship with client technical counterparts.

  • Leads new offer development for NFV/SDN-related services

  • Program management of early stage engagements

  • Leads development of consultative Documentation– tech docs, sizing, order guide, etc.

  • Blueprinting and onboarding design and services lead, in conjunction with product business unit

  • Work with product & solution teams to design and develop end-to-end solutions and reference architectures, comprised of leading edge virtualization, networking (including Software-Defined Networking), Software Defined Data Center, Virtualization, Management & Orchestration, Big Data and Real Time Analytics technologies.

  • Evangelize strategy and solutions. Team up with account team to drive strategic account initiatives. Develop trusted advisor relationship with customer technology and operations stakeholders in key accounts. Discover customers’ unmet needs. Help account team to craft solutions to problems and to clearly articulate value propositions. Work with marketing to create solution messaging.

  • Participates in client meetings related to development efforts. Provides feedback on methodology and best practice collateral to competency lead. Understand and deliver projects as per practice approved delivery methodology. Understanding of overall industry trends.

  • Secure early customers and Proof-Of-Concept (POC) opportunities. Develop Scope Of Work (SoW) with customers. Work with account team to secure customer commitment.

  • Translate customer SoW and requirements into detailed user stories. Develop, with product management, detailed feature and product requirements documents from user stories. Work with product team to prioritize feature requirements. Work with team to develop project plan with well-managed milestones so as to manage customer expectations and to ensure successful delivery.

  • Conduct detail discovery, design, demo workshops with customers. Be able to demonstrate products and solutions hands-on. Work with customer to iterate on design and perform rapid customization / prototyping when necessary.


  • 8+ years of experience in service provider (inclusive of telecommunications SP, Cloud SP, Managed SP/ Hosting provider, and/or Consumer/Enterprise Web Tech), networking, carrier grade architectures, mobility infrastructure, central office, data center, IT & virtualization

  • Experience in driving new products / solutions to market via proof-of-concept and field trail projects with strategic customers

  • Strong understanding of the Dell Technologies portfolio, including Dell servers/switches, Dell EMC storage (XtremeIO, VMAX, Data Domain, etc), VMWare vCloud for NFV/vSphere, ScaleIO, ViPR, NSX, OME, RackHD, SAS Suite, vRealize suite, VCD, and RTI.

  • Deep Understanding and Hands-on Experience with at least two of the following areas:

  • MANDATORY: Traditional and future telecom architectures including central office design, CORD, NEBS compliance, mobility standards (GSMA, 3GPP, LTE/ TD-LTE/LTE-A, 5G, NGMN etc), networking standards (IP/MPLS, MEF, OTN, SON, etc), stateful telecom workloads, carrier grade resiliency, OSP requirements, and OSS/BSS integration (eComp, Amdocs, NetCracker, etc). SDN/NFV use case understanding a requirement. Exposure to and understanding of micro-services architectures and cloud-native application design principles.

  • OpenStack, VMware, Container technologies including hands-on experience with automation, management & orchestration tools such as Python, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, MAAS, Juju, Fuel, vRealize Automation, vRealize Ops, Kubernetes, and open-source projects (OpenMANO, Open-O, OSM, TIP, OCP, etc.).

  • Hands-on experience with NFV such as ETSI standards, OPNFV, service chaining, NFVI, VIM, NFVO, and VNFs (vEPC, vCPE, vIMS, etc)

  • Hands-on experience with SDN such as ONOS, Open Daylight, Open Contrail, Floodlight, VMWare NSX and/or Cisco ACI.

  • Large scale data center design and operations, including operational best practices, management and automation tools, Carrier Grade / High Availability design.

  • Management and Orchestration solution for IT and Network infrastructure: Monitoring (Nagios, Solarwinds, OpenNMS, EMC Smarts, etc.), Service Assurance (EMC Smarts, Moogsoft, Netcool, etc.).

  • Big Data & Real Time Analytics (Spark, Storm, Hadoop, Zookeeper, YARN, HBase, Impala, Kafka and other messaging bus technologies, etc.) a plus.

  • This role requires a strong customer/market mindset, a desire to engage customers and related open source/standard development communities to become a trusted advisor.

  • Ability to work as overlays to support Sales Engineers in identifying opportunities, solving real world problems, assisting with RFP responses, etc. is a big plus.

  • Travel required in support of customer engagements, proof of concepts, and lab/field trials.
