The Product Manager (PM) has an in depth knowledge of the connector products / market and is responsible for overall strategy and business leadership required to meet sales, profit and business objectives.

In addition the Product Manager is expected to be the expert and should have sound product and technical knowledge and will be the route in to Product Management for any product related questions from all functions within TE including: FE’s, AM’s, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Finance.

Data maintenance in the TE systems is also required to ensure we have product lines with the correct product policy information and global pricing

The PM is a key liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Pricing and Sales and maintains close contacts with customers.

Key Tasks:

  • Develop and own product strategies/ roadmaps for product lines

  • Executing the business plans and product line strategies, focusing on Industrial market

  • Be the focal point, answering technical questions from all functions and customers

  • Run Product training sessions for Internal TE employees, distributors & customers

  • Research into competitive products, market trends & technology roadmaps for the region

  • Assist in developing new product launches/specific product extensions, product obsoletes, and modifications

  • Manage new product extensions projects

  • Develop best in class support to sales and customers. Working with other regional PM’s & marketing/communications to ensure adequate sales tools, marketing and promotional materials, new product launches and website content both internal and external to be kept fresh and current. Provide samples availability

  • Support to develop & maintain book pricing and be the key link with Pricing team on providing support for GSPR requests for non standard pricing

  • Develop a distribution policy to grow sales through the channel

  • Work closely with AM’s & FE’s & Channel sales to spec TE products to increase sales

  • Be key local PM responsible for setting up local production in China for specific Heavy Duty Connector products

  • Ownership and accountability for P&L, sales, GM margin plan and forecast of product line.

  • Develop and implement pricing strategies and programs to win

  • Justify and sponsor major capital investment

  • Analyze and report on competitor’s activities and strategies.

  • Identify, prioritize and push development projects for prototypes, samples and minor modifications to products.

  • Pull together where appropriate a cross functional team from finance, operations, engineering, technical, business development, sales, supply chain and product management to execute on actions to grow

  • Support S&OP process to provide product forecasts to manufacturing

  • Implement marketing and communication plan to support product lines

  • Drive cost down activity with manufacturing.

  • Drive cost reduction activity with purchasing.

Key Qualifications, Experiences and Knowledge:

  • Graduate or equivalent in scientific / Engineering and/or business discipline

  • 7 + year relevant experience within the Industrial electrics component market

  • Familiar with industrial connector market, competitor and supply chain etc.

  • Strong customer facing skills – building relationships, handling negotiations and selling.

  • Considerable experience working with the product technology, processes or market

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of interfacing with all levels of management

  • Experience of defining and developing policy, managing resources and meeting targets/objectives with proven results

  • Broad experience of understanding and interpreting complex/important customer requirements

  • Ability to make multi-year growth forecasts for product range based on sound in depth understanding of the relevant market

  • Critical thinking and decision making

  • Strong leadership skills and good team player

  • Good written and oral English language skills are essential
