We are currently looking for a Sr. Director of Architecture to join our team in Santa Clara CA providing end-to-end leadership for the Accelerator program. The Accelerator program is an incubator within CA that gives innovators the opportunity to build new products using lean startup principles.

  • Job Overview*

As a Sr. Director of Architecture, you will operate as a leader who guides, coaches, and mentors managers and teams representing the Architecture function for a major Release Train, towards high performance. This role is primarily focused on the management and development of people and practices. May also perform some of the responsibilities of an Architect, and will lead programs and initiatives related to increasing organizational effectiveness.

In short, you will be responsible for:

  • May take on some of the responsibilities of an Architect.

  • Communicate CA Technologies vision and translate our competitive strategy into goals for a major part of the organization.

  • Form and lead change initiatives in support of Business Unit Strategy, for example related to Quality or Customer Experience.

  • Encourage employees to share feedback on the team, organization and company via employee opinion surveys and other formal and informal channels:

o Share and respond to feedback as appropriate.

o May support the analysis and response activities as part of a cross-functional.

o Accountable for increasing employee engagement at the team level and creating and leading programs aimed at removing impediments to employee engagement.

  • Define and evaluate organizational performance by establishing and measuring goals against business requirements to support execution of organizational strategy.

  • Develop organizational capacity through staffing, budget/compensation planning, skills development, and acquisition of required tools and technologies.

o Work with HR Business Partners in strategic workforce planning activities.

o Conduct regular succession planning activities for key roles within the Agile organization.

o Manage and approve staff performance and discipline plans.

o Help to attract, recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent.

  • Support continuous improvement of Architecture capability:

o Stay abreast of and share industry/technology trends relevant to the Architecture discipline.

o Collaborate in the identification, implementation and adoption of new tools, practices and procedures that drive Architecture efficiency across the organization.

  • Ensure organization stays focused on customer/market needs leveraging voice of the customer feedback from various sources.

  • Encourage customer engagement at every stage in the product development process.

  • Collaborate effectively and routinely share information and best practices across all functions to ensure organizational effectiveness.

  • May participate in and contribute to forums that enable cross-functional knowledge sharing..

  • Requirements*

  • 10 or more years of experience in software development with 7 or more years in a management capacity and at least 2 years in an Agile organization.

  • Experience managing development projects and engineering teams. Ability to understand sample code.

  • Demonstrates high personal integrity and ability to earn trust from others.

  • Strong knowledge of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
