ICF International is looking for a Survey Processing and Data Management Specialist with The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program. The DHS Program is a USAID funded project that assists low and middle income countries to implement household and health facility based surveys to collect, analyze and disseminate data on topics such as fertility, mortality, maternal and child health, family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and nutrition. To date, The DHS Program has completed more than 300 surveys in 90 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union states. To learn more about The DHS Program, please visitwww.dhsprogram.com. The position involves approximately 25% travel mainly to countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. The ideal candidate for this job will have software development skills, interest in public health, and a commitment to increase human capacity in electronic data collection, management and use in low and middle income countries. _Key Responsibilities:_ * Developing and adapting systems for mobile and paper based data collection in relation to The DHS Program population surveys, using primarily the CSPro software system * Training and supervising fieldworkers and supervisors to use mobile and paper based data collection systems * Working with subject matter specialists to produce analysis based on survey data * Building capacity in implementing agencies worldwide via workshops and seminars on data use and survey processing * Producing standardized datasets for the DHS archive and providing technical support for data users
_Basic Qualifications:_ * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Demography, or Public Health related fields required. Master's degree preferred. * Excellent programming skills in a language such as C#, C , Python, Java, etc. required. Experience using CSPro a plus. * Availability to travel internationally approximately 25% of the time.
_Preferred Skills/Experience:_ * Experience in public health or demographic research. * Experience in working or living in the developing world. * A relevant second language, such as French or Russian.
_Professional Skills:_ * Positive, problem solving approach * Attention to detail * Ability to work in challenging environments and under pressure * Strong verbal communication skills. * Good organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as a team member are a must.
