The Manufacturing Laboratory Technician will be responsible for deep process and product knowledge of the Digital Dyes and Inks Produced in Rochester and have an understanding of our customers’ expectations and needs. This role will be an interface between manufacturing, customer service, planning, buyers, scheduling, MT and Quality, ensuring satisfied customers and timely deliveries.

Responsibilities:

Quality

  • Address and respond to quality question across all assets during the production. This position will be the first responder on production or quality issues and represent the products at the daily asset meetings

  • Record and evaluate COA Quality data into the Production System.

  • Testing of Raw Materials, Make quality release decisions, Perform Lab tests and verification of analytical tests; Responsible for answering Corrective Action Requests and making needed changes with the support of MT

  • Interface with quality engineers to make implement quality improvements

  • Lab instrumentation Work: Calibrations; Standards; Troubleshooting of Equipment; Development of new protocols

  • Make any needed Adjustments to the batch sheet based on raw material COA data Development/ Continuous Improvement

  • Generate, follow, organize and drive experiments associated with improvement programs, yield improvements, Product Change Request or Change to Business, set new and update Dye Prep Parameters, Update Dye Batch Sheets

  • Work with Operation areas to generate new Improvement Opportunities and drive Continuous Improvement for products

  • Support Manufacturing make needed adjustments to production batches, in-process changes including absorbance, viscosity; changes in process when adjustments are made; filtration test; pH; conductivity

  • Support Manufacturing Technology Engineer on Daily Activities

Qualifications

Current knowledge or willing to be trained in:

Candidates must have at least one year of manufacturing experience or a two/four year degree in a Physical Science with college lab experience.

  • Ability to learn Product knowledge, Process Knowledge & Yield Data Interpretation

  • Technically savvy with a background in process equipment and chemistry

  • Analytical Lab Equipment Knowledge and Laboratory skills

  • Excellent planning, oral and written communication & organization skills

  • Data Based trouble shooting, problem solving including the use of 5 WhyTrees and Fishbone Diagrams

  • Ability to learn product line and voice of customers and represent the Voice of the Customer

  • Management of Change process

  • Focused improvement, goal setting

  • Self-manage performance per a plan

  • Understanding of Chemical hazards

  • Computer skills: Excel, Word, Minitab, Process Monitoring Software, SharePoint
