The Buyer / Planner directs and coordinates activities of cell buying, material planning, and inventory control. This person ensures suppliers meet cost, quality and delivery targets. This team member will also ensure on-time delivery of finish goods to customers.
The ideal candidate is results-driven, assertive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and has a strong sense of urgency.
Coordinates delivery information for all purchased parts for their assigned cell(s)
Responsible for PO / Blanket PO maintenance (launching, invoicing, RTV, expediting)
Supports negotiations for target lead-times and desired package sizes
Aligns supply chain to future customer demand
Works directly with Material Tech and Quality Department to resolve pending material issues
Participates in daily Gemba reviews of materials and manufacturing as applies
Ownership of material stock-out reduction/elimination
Measure and communicate supplier Q, D and C performance
Participates in the development of new products
Responsible for cost savings projects (PPV, VAVE, …)
Responsible for inventory reduction projects
Implementing a forward planning process to minimize purchase part shortages
Recommends corrective actions to improve/sustain inventory accuracy
Leads development and implementation of planning systems for new products and product transitions
Translate customer demand into an executable production plan
Drives production schedule and shortage review daily
Implements best materials planning and scheduling practices to improve efficiencies and on-time delivery to customers, providing leadership around methods, tools, and current best practices
Facilitates kanban process for relevant product line

Understanding of ERP systems, Oracle experience a plus

Excellent communication and organizational skills
Previous buying experience
Previous planning experience
Lean manufacturing background (kanban management)
Understanding of inventory turns and how to optimize results
Team player, self-motivated
Passionate about application of FBS (Fortive Business System) tools
BS in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business is preferred, or 4 years supply chain experience instead
