It’s uniquely ViaSat and intentionally not like any other company.The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and continually improve the demand and forecast process across assigned programs. The Demand Analyst directly manages the forecast review meetings, owns analyzing and improving forecast accuracy, apply constraints and provides input to Master Scheduler.Candidates selected to this role will be expected to demonstrate leadership and coordination skills, internally across the organization and cross-functionally with all Operations functions, including Program Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Production Planning and Manufacturing. Additionally, working with internal stakeholders, such as Finance and Business Development.This role is a key Supply Chain focal point, and is responsible for identifying, managing and communicating demand inputs.Responsibilities:Design and generate weekly and monthly statistical forecast reportsContinuously improve forecasting techniques, method and approachRelating, tracking and measuring the impact of forecast accuracyAttend team meetingsLead program S&OP meetingsLead consensus on both unconstrained and constrained sales volumeEstablish and utilize best methods in creating forecasts and respective inventory targetsAnalyze unconstrained demand provided by Finance revenue targets. Collaborate with the Operations Program Manager, Master Scheduler and Supply Chain for constraints. Communicate back to the program suggested demand changes.Convert financial forecasts into units and build plans utilizing constraint information.Prepares summary reports, spreadsheets, and charts based on analysis of data from multiple sources, which may include but will not be limited to bills of material reports, metrics, and inventory forecast projections.Collaborate with Operations internal “core team” regarding manufacturing constraints, lead time and due date requirementsCollaborate with Material Planner / Analyst and Global Sourcing Manager on forecast feasibility; provide historical analysis where necessaryProvide build plan to Operations Program Manager and Master Scheduler once demand is agreed uponCreate daily, weekly, and monthly analytics and reporting to support decision making as well as provide analysis and insight around team operations including logistics, supply chain and manufacturing.Collaborate with various internal teams, including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance, to support the demand planning and forecasting process.Where applicable, suggest process/communication improvements relative to metric tracking activities.Proactively identifies and escalates potential issues related to metrics.Recommend changes to demand planning procedures in response to changes in corporate strategy, enhanced technology, or supply chain strategies.Additional Functions for Senior Analysts:Mentor entry level personnel assisting in the development of skillsets necessary for success by assisting them in understanding critical planning elements and guiding them in tactical situations, within departmental procedures/policies.Lead projects commensurate with scope of responsibility within a team driven environment.Represent departmental management in cross functional meetings dealing with tactical issues.May infrequently audit the planning activities and responsibilities of junior level Planners.Train other level Demand Planners as required.Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements 5+ years’ experience in supply chain management, sales forecasting or equivalentStrong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to analyze detail and perform structured decision-making on a daily basis.Ability to identify variables that drive business results.Experienced in the use of standard Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for management reporting and presentation.High degree of initiative and ownership, attention to detail, and the discipline to follow through on assigned tasks.Strong knowledge, understanding and practice of MRP principles. Experience in Oracle ERPKnowledge in Microsoft Access or Database management and queries is a plusExperience creating statistical forecasting models a plusStrong teamwork skills required to work effectively in a team environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external supply chain partners.Working knowledge of the manufacturing processAbility to develop solutions to a variety of problems of large to very large scope and complexity, often creating or revising company or departmental policies in the process.Demonstrated ability to synthesize concepts, practices, and tools to resolve problems or improve processes.Demonstrated job history of successfully managing forecasting requirements and all aspects of material and capacity planning in a manufacturing environment and a complete grasp of inventory management practices.Bachelors or advanced degree, quantitative majors preferred.
