The candidate will work in the Kelz laboratory in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine. Research in the Kelz lab is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of anesthetic action and sleep-wake regulation, using a combination of mouse genetics and molecular biology. The candidate will drive a brain slice electrophysiology research project (collect, analyze, interpret, and present data at group meetings) and assist in the general running of the lab, including ordering and maintaining lab organization.
The minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 3 years of experience with brain slice electrophysiological recording technique or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience with slice electrophysiology and data analysis, will be comfortable handling mice, and have an enthusiastic, collaborative spirit.* Maintain accurate records of procedures and data * Analyze, interpret and present data at lab meetings with team members * Ability to perform recordings accurately and reproducibly* Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions to problems* Solid work ethic and demonstrated record of productivity* Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills* Ability to work independently and in a team environment* To be involved in supporting and training team members* Manage laboratory resources, i.e. reagents and supplies * Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other scientific softwareOther desirable qualifications:* Familiarity with basic statistical analysis and how to apply them to biological data
