Duties

This position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail in support of the research goals of the lab within the Ovarian Cancer Research Center. This position requires mouse experience, cell culture experience, and experience in database management. Responsibilities include the following: support mouse experiment-handle mice, care for mice, perform surgical procedures which include transplantation of human tumor to mice to develop patient derived xenograft (PDX), measure tumors using ultrasound (training will be provided), resect tumors and biobanking. Knowledge of mouse anatomy required. Must be able to maintain very organized records of experiments and maintain cell line and human tissue and PDX data base.Responsibliities will include growing primary tumor cultures, establishing cell lines, performing proliferation and in virto assays. Preparing protein lysates, running Western blots, and ability to perform immunoprecipitations will be necessary, Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as transfection/transduction, PCR, IHC, and RNA/DNA and protein isolation are preferred. Ability to trouble shoot is required. Responsibilities also include the writing and revision of SOP’s, training of new employees, maintenance of the Biospecimen Bank and records for all collected biospeimens and patient data, monitoring, maintenance and optimization of instrumentation, ordering supplies and assisting PI in managing grant budgets.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with mice work is required. Mouse survival surgery experience required. Good communication oral and written skills, and must be responsible for all scheduled tasks. Preferred candidate should have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. Highly motivated individuals willing to work hard in a collaborative, cooperative environment to achieve research objectives. Knowledge of Word, Excel spreadsheets, database software would be preferable. Must be able to work independently as well as a team member. Occasional work on the weekends and evenings required. Flexibility with hours is required. Position is contingent upon continued funding.
