Provides nursing services and first aid to employees or persons who become ill or injured at work facilities and industrial plants. Administers health management programs such as workers' compensation, long-term disability, and wellness programs. Maintains record of persons treated; prepares accident reports; provides health education information; dispenses standard drugs and medicines such as aspirin and cough or cold tablets; refers contagious diseases or serious injuries to company or employee's physician. Must be a Registered Nurse (RN). May work with industrial toxicology and/or hygienists to recognize environmental factors and/or stresses in or from the workplace that may cause sickness, impaired health, or discomfort among the workers. Carries out duties and responsibilities consistent with local laws and regulations. BS+2 years of experience or MS. Requires RN license plus state board certification and BLS and ACLS.

The Wellness Center Nurse is responsible for the delivery of efficient, safe, patient care and assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Conducts a nursing assessment by taking a patient history and physical assessment and by obtaining vital signs and other medical tests. Provides assessment and therapeutic modalities within the scope of practice as defined by state/local law. Demonstrates sound independent judgment related to personal, patient, and employee’s health care and safety. Knowledge of established professional nursing concepts and principles of practice. Performs occupational and health promotion screening tests (i.e., ECG, audiometry, spirometry, vision screening). Assists in the work ability process and makes appropriate referrals, including to employee assistance programs. Additional duties include administration of intravenous fluids and medications, venipuncture, administration of immunizations and allergy injections. Performs drug screen collections for both DOT and non-DOT drug screens, using proper chain of custody; ensures preparation for pick-up and shipment to appropriate laboratory. Conducts appropriate laboratory tests and quality control procedures. Documents accurately all elements of the nursing assessment, treatments, medications administered, discharge instructions provided, and follow-up care arranged. Evaluates health education/promotion needs of patients and provides necessary coaching and instruction. Identifies emergency situations and provides care within legal scope of practice. Administers medication and medical treatments competently as directed by a Physician or Licensed Independent Practitioner as permitted. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Follows infection control procedures. Maintains patient privacy and confidential patient information. Must be able to professionally interact with a variety of patients, employees and other Wellness Center clients/vendors. Maintains a working knowledge of health regulations, ADA guidelines, and company policies. Familiar with the use of computers and programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Minimal business travel (less than 10%) may be required. Local travel may be more. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications Certificate from an accredited Nursing School Must possess an active license, in good standing, to practice as Registered Nurse in the state(s) of employment and practice. At least three years experience as a Registered Nurse in an emergency room, occupational health clinic or other ambulatory Primary Care or Internal Medicine clinic. Must demonstrate Full Spectrum Leadership attributes and behaviors. Candidate will be expected to meet the physical requirements and be able to wear/use a respirator (N-95 filtering face piece or higher).

Desired skills Bachelor’s degree (BSN) from a four-year college or university is preferred for Registered Nurses. Basic Life Support (BLS) and AED certifications. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification desired. Experience in Occupational Medicine or Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN). Additional certifications in wellness/fitness specialties desired. Experience in health promotion or worksite wellness preferred. Ability to coach effectively in all modalities; face-to-face, group and phone interactions. Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations. Experience in the use of electronic medical records. Demonstrated experience in chronic condition education and counseling. Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary team, ideally with experience working with employees, managers, and safety and health professionals. Experience with billing and coding for medical clinics. Demonstrated communication skills (oral and written presentations). CAOHC Audiometry Certification Certification from a NIOSH-approved Spirometry course. Experience in travel medicine.
