The Position:

A full-time research technician position is available in the Steinhauer laboratory at Yeshiva University. The Steinhauer lab studies cell communication using the Drosophila melanogaster testis as a model system. We are located in Northern Manhattan, on the Wilf campus of Yeshiva University (Amsterdam Avenue and 184th St.).


Responsibilities of the position include maintenance of Drosophila_ _stocks, lab management, and project-oriented work using molecular and cellular biology techniques. The successful candidate will conduct an independent research project.


Experience and Educational Background*:*

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology or a related area required
  • Minimum commitment of 1 year required

Preferred additional experience:

  • Molecular cloning, mutagenesis and PCR

  • Fluorescence and light microscopy

  • Protein biochemistry such as Western blotting

Skills and Competencies:

  • Highly motivated, highly responsible and very well organized individuals with excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills in oral and written English
