BNY Mellon Business Suppt Sr Bus Analyst in New York, New York

The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) will report to the Business Support Manager or Business Support Team Manager. The SA will not have any direct reports. . The SBA will essentially have a field of expertise within the assigned function so as to be considered a subject matter expert (SME) and will have sufficient general competency within that function so as to be able to play a leading role in their assigned projects which includes assigning project tasks to Analysts and ensuring these are completed within deadlines. Projects will be assigned to the SBA by the BSM or BSTM. The SBA will support any Technology project as defined by Business Support. (see matrix). The SBAs primary role is to act on behalf of the business on technology development projects, reviewing and signing off project documentation, providing business/user input into business & functional requirements (BRD & FRS), performing/coordinatiing and signing off user acceptance testing (UAT The SBA will also analyze business processes for the purpose of completing either business process design documents or business requirements documents. The SBA will assign project tasks to Analysts who have been assigned to the same project for their function. The SA will ensure good by participation at various project meetings. The types of tasks that the SBA may assign to Analysts are writing and execution of test scripts, attending projects meetings and providing feedback, working with the SBA on operational readiness, preparing documentation. The SBA will essentially take the lead for their function on the project. The remit of the role is to support projects for a function(s) within Securities Operations in line with the organizational structure of this division within Asset Servicing. The SBA will be responsible for ensuring that he/she gives the appropriate business input so as to ensure the deliverable fulfills the business requirements for the assigned function. The SBA may also be required to project manage Operations projects such as process re-engineering or consultation for his/her assigned function.. Process re-engineering can encompass giving direction to analysts or operations staff assigned to project to identify tasks to achieve the objective and planning to implement change. Consultation projects can encompass obtaining the appropriate business resources and managing and giving input to the research and analysis of existing processes and new products and gathering/documenting business requirements and justification. Any project that impacts the assigned function s operational areas will fall into the jobholder s remit. Projects will cover global markets for the assigned function and focus on the development and implementation of a continuous improvement strategy including process improvements, productivity enhancements, cost reduction and efficiency gains as well as, new products and services, industry initiatives and regulatory changes. Projects will also include working with Technology to implement solutions to issues that impact the ability of the business to conduct their normal operations. The SBA will have sufficient competency in analysis work so as to assist on projects that are not for their assigned function as and when there is a business need. The line of business managers for the assigned function will be internal clients to the jobholder. The jobholder will also have relationships with groups outside of the functional areas, namely, Business Program Services, Technology groups, Client Change Management, Risk & Compliance, Product, Network, Legal, MIS, Client Services. Good knowledge of the commercial environment and of Asset Servicing business, its products and technologies. Must possess in depth understanding of end-to-end operation flows across multiple system applications for their assigned function. 7+ years asset servicing experience required to be able to understand impact to assigned function during strategic and/or cross-functional projects. Must be able to determine business lines impacted on any given project. Must have the experience and confidence to identify and raise risks and manage to resolution. People: In their leading role for assigned projects, will be required to ensure project Analysts (SBA & BA) perform key tasks allocated to them in a timely manner. Business & Technical: is required to give input to business requirements and functional specifications. During this process, Senior Business Analyst work with Technology to find solutions that lead to the Technology development. The aim is to deliver an end product that meets the business requirements and where possible a product that has an extended shelf life. Where project requires analysis to determine feasibility, the jobholder will draw on their business knowledge to propose a solution. For their assigned projects is responsible for ensuring it delivers an end product which meet the users/business requirements i.e. fit for purpose. To achieve this the jobholder will be required to draw on their knowledge and understand where it is necessary to call in others to participate in the compilation of business requirements and the development of the functional specification. The impact of delivering a fit for purpose product ensures the business is able to offer a new or enhanced service to its clients or is able to meet new regulatory requirements, A product which is not fit for purpose or that has defects, can impact the ability of the business to maintain business as usual service to its external clients, provide enhanced services on dates agreed with its external clients or meet regulatory requirements, all of which can have financial implications and can also have an impact on the Bank s reputation. Is considered a key contact by the business managers and their teams for their assigned function. Will interact with other groups during projects lifecycle and when dealing with issues raised by those groups e.g. Business Program Services, Change Management, Technology Services and Risk Management.

Qualifications

Will have strong management qualities in order to manage project resources as required and lead on projects. Requires the ability to persuade, influence others and communicate effectively with all levels in the organization, including Senior and Executive Management and occasionally, external industry parties. A level or equivalent. Degree level preferred. Professional project management qualification preferred. 7 years Asset Servicing Experience. 5 years custody experience. 2 years project management . Operational background preferred.
