Qualifications:Corporate Accounting is searching for a highly motivated individual to join its Accounting Research and Procedures Section. The successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of accounting/finance experience. Good analytical skills, good written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in MS Office products are required.

Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, knowledge of US GAAP, and experience of preparing financial statements and footnotes are essential. Familiarity with the Oracle ERP system and knowledge of accounting rules for regulated entities are also preferred.

Responsibilities:The selected candidate will conduct accounting research and analyses independently. Drafts general accounting procedures and opinions to document proper accounting for various transactions and programs with adequate internal controls. Researches, implements, and provides guidance on pronouncements issued by professional organizations (e.g., FASB and AICPA) and orders issued by industry regulators (e.g., SEC, PSC and/or FERC). Prepares comment letters to FASB exposure drafts, FERC notices of proposed rulemaking, etc. Provides guidance on various accounting matters to organizations throughout the Company. Be responsible for complex accounting and reporting, such as pension and other post-retirement benefits, stock-based compensation, leases, goodwill impairment, VIEs, guarantees, etc. Determines the proper valuation and the adequacy of the Company’s major reserves (customer uncollectibles, environmental, injuries and damages, workers’ compensation, etc.). Provides ongoing support to the Sarbanes-Oxley team, budgeting and forecasting, rate case filings, internal and external audits.

Selected candidate will also be responsible to ensure compliance with Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed.
