JOB PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Write, illustrate, and maintain service and parts documents, service kits, and other assigned technical documentation to support the product line in a Global market. This position reports to the Technical Communications Manager.
Create and Maintain Technical Publications
Write topic based content for reuse and localization for a Global market while learning to adhere to ALL style guides and templates used by the department. Develop skills needed to write/edit content to conform to Crown’s controlled English and current standards to increase readability and translatability for a Global market. Simplify and communicate engineering information. Collaborate with Engineering, Service, Legal, and the Training departments, for accuracy and completeness of all technical documentation. Observe hands-on service procedures to develop an understanding of the procedure in order to create technical documentation. Be able to evaluate/use Engineering Orders (EO’s) Product Change Requests (PCR’s), Bills of Material (BOM’s), and vendor information. Write and illustrate service/parts pages, and illustrate electrical/hydraulic schematic pages. Develop skills to write and illustrate instructions for service kits to communicate the most efficient and safest method of installation. Photograph trucks and procedures for use in technical documents. Edit the photography as necessary for publication. Learn the trucks electronic and mechanical systems and how they function on the trucks. Use multiple software applications: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Frame Maker®, CAD (NX 7.5), Arbortext® IsoDraw®, Job Manager/Virtual Ticket, Microsoft Office suite, Tedopres (STE), XML/DITA, ERP (SAP), CCMS, TMS, and other applications as needed.
Support the process to check documents in/out of a document management system. Perform other duties as assigned.

Associate Degree (Technical Writing, Electronics, English)
Must have valid driving privileges
Occasional travel (0-5%)
Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)
Good written/verbal communications, organizational and listening skills, good command of grammar rules, English as a primary language, having a 2 nd language (Spanish) would be a plus, work extremely well in a “team” environment. Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of electrical systems and experience in the manufacturing industry is required.
