The unit based Clinical Educator is an experienced registered professional nurse who functions under the direction of the Nurse Manager and/or Assistant Nurse Manager. Provides nursing care, consultation, collaboration and support to the staff on a designated unit or units. Possesses advanced clinical expertise and utilizes this expertise to support and promote the delivery of safe, age appropriate and culturally aware patient care. Serves as a resource to all levels of nursing staff and provides staff education, demonstrates inter-disciplinary collaboration, fosters communication and collaborative practice with physicians and serves as a positive role model to promote the professional image of nursing and expert clinical practice. Performs as unit educator and staff nurse on an 85/15 basis. Participates in the identification, development, and monitoring of performance improvement activities to improve quality of patient care.
Required Minimum Education: Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required. Masters degree in nursing preferred, licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Georgia required; national certification in clinical specialty preferred. Required Minimum Experience: Minimum three (3) years experience as a staff nurse that includes sufficient clinical and teaching experience to ensure competence. BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP Instructor preferred dependent on specialty. Required Minimum Skills: Ability to read, write and speak the English language: Strong customer service and interpersonal skills: Inter and Intra-departmental coordination of patient care activities: Delegation skills required: Ability to multi-task essential: Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations essential: Strong detail orientation required: Computer skills required: Personal time management skills are required: Compliance with the American Nurses' Association Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses is required: Demonstrates knowledge of and practices with parameters outlined in Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act.
