The Electrical Lab Technician will be responsible for supporting the product design team through laboratory testing of Thomson and competitive products in the market. The technician is a critical member of the development team focused on product design and technology. The main focus will be on creating a robust testing process and tool platform to validate new products and support existing product platforms.

  • Associate's or technical degree in science, math or engineering (A.S.) from a college or university and 3-5 years related product or technology experience required.

  • Hardware familiarity with motors, potentiometers, encoders, motor controllers, relays, hydraulic/air cylinder knowledge would be a plus. Should understand 2D mechanical and electrical prints for analysis purposes.

  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes, multi-meters, data acquisition equipment including data recording, soldering equipment. Must be willing to learn a variety of measurement and environmental test/analysis equipment.

  • Experience programming machine controllers to automate performance over lift testing (any control method acceptable - PLC's, Labview, C-based controllers).

  • Ability to coordinate and perform outside lab testing in situations where additional equipment is required for specific tests. Local driving may be required in these cases.

  • Communication bus knowledge with J1939 and LIN and ability to create interface devices for testing purposes.

  • Must be competent with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Fluent written and spoken communication in English required.
