JOB SUMMARY / GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Teammate Relations Manager manages the teammate relations program related to disciplinary action, conflict resolution and the interpretation/application of policies and best practices. They work closely with the Labor Relations and Human Resources team in fostering of positive labor-management relations with teammates. They will also counsel managers and supervisors on teammate relation issues including discipline, policies and procedures interpretation, harassment, discrimination, and HR compliance. They will conduct on-site internal investigations often involving complex employment matters and prepare comprehensive investigation reports with recommended findings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Administer, direct, and review teammate relations programs, including the handling of disputes and performance issues.
Provide guidance and advise management on developing, implementing and revising teammate relations programs and policies and resolving human resource issues.
Develop and implement strategies for collecting information from teammates and managers (surveys and audits) to identify potential teammate relations issues and organizational needs.
Plan for responding to needs of an organization by participating in the strategic and operational planning process.
Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform managers and teammates of teammate relations policies, procedures and practices.
Manage the design and development of tools to guide managers through making decisions that impact the teammate/employer relations such as how to handle grievances and standards of conduct.
Plan and organize special seminars and provide training and counseling for managers and supervisors to develop their understanding of performance management.
Investigate and supervise investigations of issues affecting employer/teammate relations or compliance with regulations by conducting interviews, reviewing data and discussing issues with involved parties.
Represent the organization in formal meetings with outside organizations on matters dealing with teammate relations.
Conduct and or participate in route rides, warehouse day, round table meetings, teammate meeting, and driver meetings.
Monitor local labor issues including organizing, legislative changes, and potential climate changes. Participate in local civic activities as board member. Example: Community Education, Head Start, Weed and Seed committees, chamber, etc.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A teammate in this position must:
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Labor Relations, and/or a related field of study.
Have a minimum of 5 years Employee/Labor Relations experience to include the knowledge of principles and procedures for effective teammate and labor relations management. Be able to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish, preferred.
Have labor relations experience with a union workforce and collective bargaining agreements.
Have experience with all varieties of HR issues with a tactical, hands-on approach.
Have experience in business and management principles involved in strategic planning.
Have knowledge and understanding of business laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process. Be able to effectively work with business partners and provide expertise with HR issues. Understand investigative and analytical techniques, procedures, and requirements. Be able to operate independently, understanding when to escalate issues. Be skilled on Excel, Microsoft Word and Access PC programs.
Have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, intra-company memos and outside correspondence.
Be able to manage projects and program objectives. Have the ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. Be able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and teammates in both the oral and written forms. Be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Have the necessary skills to interpret an extensive variety of instructions with several variables, both abstract and concrete.
Possess strong analytical and communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Be able to successfully pass an education verification, drug screen and criminal background check.
While this position will primarily work in an office environment, the position may also require the incumbent to spend significant time in warehouse, truck yard, tractor/trailer, and retail store environments. This position requires the teammate to work inside the majority of the time. This position may require working in hot and cold temperature extremes, exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, noise, potentially harmful chemicals, solvents and components, and working in close to proximity to other teammates.
This position required the teammate to carry a company provided cell phone in the "on" position for emergency contact purposes.
Closed-toe shoes must be worn when working in an operations environment.
