Pure Technologies Crew Chief in Kansas City, Missouri

Overview:

As a Crew Chief one will be responsible for the safe, accurate and professional operation of the crew. The Crew Chief is in charge of the field operation, provides direction to the Operator, and is responsible for the truck and all of the equipment. The Crew Chief executes valve and hydrant operations and maintenance in the field as well as data collection activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Must have Water Distribution Systems Operator License

• Experience in valve turning preferred

• Safe and cautious driver with a valid driver’s license

• Water distribution knowledge

• Ability to interact with customer

• Good verbal/written communication skills

• Computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets and ability to download data)

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to understand, read and write English

• Ability to perform basic math skills

• Availability to work overtime, any shift, weekends and holidays if needed

DUTIES:

Safety

• Ensure the crew follows all safety procedures • Traffic and personnel safety

• Equipment operations safety

• Confined space safety

Valve and Hydrant Operations

• Understand and follow all operations procedures • Understand the implications of operations

• Understand water system dynamics

• Call for assistance whenever an abnormal situation arises

Valve and Hydrant Maintenance

• Follow all maintenance procedures • Understand the mechanical construction of valves and hydrants

• Call for assistance whenever an abnormal situation arises

• Be available for emergency response timing as agreed with Project Manager

Data Collection

• Ensure all data is collected completely and accurately • Understand the details of the valve and hydrant data being collected

• Understanding of the GPS device and its operation and maintenance

• Participate in quality assurance activities

• Daily download of data on GPS device

Equipment

• Ensure all equipment is in proper operating condition • Keep all equipment clean and lubricated

• Responsible for all equipment within assigned vehicle

• Notify the Project Manager of any equipment issues

• Vehicle maintenance including: oil changes, tire rotation and other general maintenance

Crew

• Responsible for all activities and operations of the Crew • Responsible for tracking daily production and timekeeping of the crew

Professionalism

• Present a professional appearance • Ensure a professional appearance of the crew

• Responsible for crew and equipment

Notify the Project manager of any customer concerns

During the probationary period, the employee is expected to complete the following training courses within 6 months of hire:

• OSHA 10 Certification

• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

• Flagger Certification

• Workplace Harassment Certificate

• Defensive Driving Certificate

• Personal Protective Equipment Certificate

• Confined Space Entry – Attendant Certificate

• Confined Space Entry – Entrant Certificate

• Temporary Traffic Control Certificate

• Electric Turner Operations Certificate

• Magnetic Locator Operations Certificate

• Hazard Communications Certificate

• Introduction to WWS and Safety Procedures Certificate

• How Water Works and Water System Components Certificate

• Valves Certificate

• Valve Assessment, Turn Counts, and Backflow Prevention Certificate

• Hydrants Certificate

• Shutdowns and Equipment Overview Certificate

• GIS and Trimble Operations Certificate

• Large Valve Certification for select team members

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School or equivalent

• DOT Certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to continuously stand or walk for a full day in the outside elements

• Ability to bend, climb stairs and lift frequently

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently

• Ability to squat occasionally

• Ability to swing a sledge hammer
