Role synopsis:

The role will be responsible for providing support and engineering expertise for a number of ALM Tooling, SDLC and operational tools/services. The key focus of the role is to support the Splunk application along with ITSI Glass table tools used by North American Gas & Power (NAGP). The Role will form part of the current AES Engineering team in Houston working closely with the ALM tooling team in the UK who own and manage the Splunk platform.

The team currently covers:

  • Support of existing platforms including Virtualisation, Cloud, Splunk, TFS, Artifactory, Ansible, SonarQube, Tableau, & Jira.

  • Best practices for building, packaging, deploying and auditing .NET and Java based applications on both Microsoft and Linux platforms.

  • Hands-on Agile/Scrum/Kanban process adoption using the BP IST Standard TFS Scrum Template with TFS 2015

  • Tools to support the Release and Deployment process

  • Management of self-service BI platform

  • Code quality and static analysis

The role will work closely with all levels of development and support, including internal support teams and external suppliers to ensure end to end service is delivered to the business delivered in line with agreed SLA targets.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide face to face support capability for ALM tools in use in Houston.

  • Provide support and engineering capability in US hours for Splunk including the ITSI glass tables put in place to support the S3 project (Endur implementation).

Essential Education:

IT Related Degree (optional) or proven experience in the desired areas.

Desirable criteria and qualifications:

  • Experience of the Splunk ITSI platform

  • Experience in working with multiple delivery teams

  • Docker, Kubernetes, Openstack, Mesos and Openshift

  • Certified Scrum Master

  • VMware/VSphere Experience

Essential experience and job requirements:

  • Strong experience in software configuration management experience with Microsoft and Linux based application development technology

  • Strong knowledge and experience using Team Foundation Server and its capabilities

  • Strong experience of setting up and running an operational Splunk cluster

  • Implemented automation toolsets Chef, Puppet and Ansible.

  • Experience of implementing platforms on AWS Web Services

  • Experience with scalable, distributed enterprise windows environments.

  • Strong working understanding of LINUX and Windows Server operating system, and its security.

  • Experience working with Maven, Artifactory

  • Knowledge of SOA and Micro service patterns

  • Understanding of Java Enterprise SDLC tools chains

  • Scripting experience; PowerShell, Python, Bash

  • Strong Understanding of architectural concepts and design patterns

  • Demonstrable client management skills, good communications skills.

  • Ability to work in a matrix organization

  • Experience with Agile-based methodology/Scrum/Kanban and Waterfall.
