General Information

This position is responsible maintaining the GPiLearn+ training program. The Business Analyst will work closely with the Area Managers and Planners as well as with functional departments developing and maintaining training profiles for all employees as well as tracking employee’s performance in GPiLearn+. This business analyst is also responsible for developing and maintaining training reports to be used by managers and planners. This role also includes the revision of the Business Review on a monthly basis. The Business Analyst will be responsible for the annual review of Site Specific Instructions (SSIs) as well as the revision and creation of SSIs as required.


  • Analyze and prepare monthly departmental and divisional Operations, Maintenance and Administration reports and VP Executive Summary complete with variance analysis for actual, budget and forecast data to be used in the monthly Business Review,

  • Analyzing actual cost, workload, and performance data to identify trends, issues, and Opportunities,

  • Develop and track training individual training progress throughout the organization, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met,

  • Evaluating completeness and accuracy of information received,

  • Developing a network of internal and external contacts and acting as a regional contact for budgeting issues,

  • Maintain GPiLearn+ training program, assign training offerings as required, add or remove employees as required, liaison between the company and GPi,

  • Create requisitions as required in SAP,

  • Receive services in SAP,

  • Manage all aspects of Site Specific Instructions, creation, revision and review, and

  • Manage the Facility Management Plans (FMPs) on an annual basis.

Qualifications and Education


  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance;

  • Ability to analyze information to identify trends and critical relationships to pinpoint underlying issues;

  • Ability to identify problems at an early stage and work cooperatively on resolution;

  • Excellent analytical, reporting, presentation and facilitation skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills;

  • Excellent customer service and coaching on processes;

  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail;

  • Strong organization, prioritization and time management skills with the ability to handle a varied and demanding workload;

  • Ability and interest in learning and taking on new challenges, and

  • Administrative Knowledge of the GPiLearn+ training program.


  • Successful completion of a Bachelor Degree in Business (such as Accounting or Finance);

  • A minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience;

  • Basic understanding of the power business, including revenue sources, operating and capital costs;

  • Knowledge and understanding of how operations and capital work is executed;

  • Knowledge of TransCanada's Accounting and Project Management systems is an asset;

  • Experience with current position tools (EDMS FileNet, GPiLearn, GPiLearn+, The Business Review, SAP) would be a definite asset, and

  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word, and exposure to automated maintenance scheduling software.
