Upstate Cerebral Palsy Revenue Cycle Specialist in Utica,
The Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible to prepare billings and bill for services performed, reconciling claims with the appropriate insurances, prepare backup for journal entries, account for program receipts, generate billing and accounts receivable reports and respond to inquiries from external regulatory agencies.
Activities include but are not limited to the following:
Prepare checks for daily deposit log, collect money and distribute daily mail.
Prepare journal entries for adjustments and/or write offs on a regular basis for revenue generated.
Account for program receipts.
Bill for services performed for all programs and post payments against outstanding claims.
Generate program specific reports.
Respond to inquiries from external regulatory agencies (State, County, and Local).
Coordinate with insurance companies to collect payment on health, mental health, and clinical services.
Interact with consumers, patients and their family members on account balances and payments.
Track and identify outstanding accounts receivable, identify reasons and take steps to follow up for collection and report back to Revenue Cycle Team Lead.
Interact daily with program staff on issues regarding program attendance and billing documentation.
Attend trainings held by state funding sources on issues relevant to billing, reporting, etc.
Monitor aging of Agency’s accounts receivable.
Provide insight and assist in team decision-making regarding accounting billing policies and practices.
Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission.

Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
Backup to other functions throughout the Revenue Cycle Department as deemed necessary.
Associates Degree or 5 years’ experience.
Intermediate Computer Skills (Windows, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Word, Excel, Access).
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.
This position does not have regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and not required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities) or OMH (Office of Mental Health).
Individual must be HIPPA compliant, as they may be dealing with individual accounts, as well as employees on a daily basis.
Job related tasks do not involve exposure or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Upstate Cerebral Palsy sites.
OSHA Exposure Category III.
Must have fluency in the English language. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. Must be able remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, computer printer, etc.
