The VBF Production Scheduler is a Senior Specialist position within the Merck Durham Varicella Bulk Facility (VBF) Manufacturing Support Group. This position requires the ability to distill large quantities of complex data into simplified reporting and actionable measures, make rapid disciplined decisions, and prioritize work within a fast-paced production environment.

Key functions of the role include, but are not limited to:
•Own the coordination of resources and equipment for the manufacture of live virus vaccine products
•Has in-depth knowledge of equipment and biological processes
•Will identify and communicate improvement opportunities, and drive results
•Will function as the liaison to Planning, Maintenance, Finance and Technology
•Monitors forecast and delivers Production Schedule
•Assists coaches in identifying key equipment availability, training opportunities and allocates them accordingly
•Identifies opportunities to optimize throughput and reduce process cycle times
•Facilitates focus on continuous improvement activities
•Coordinates resources to implement suggestions/ideas of merit
•Assists in creating and continuous tracking of Merck Production System (MPS) metrics, designing standards and performance utilizing downtime tracking and available lean tools
•Leads, coordinates, and assists with area projects as needed
•Participates in Atypical Event Response, Crisis Management and Renewal
•Attends departmental and team meetings focused on equipment, process and training improvement
•Serves as operations representative for schedule change discussions
•Tracks schedule adherence; reports plan versus actuals
•Participates in safety initiatives and safety investigations
•Participates in internal and external audits and inspections
•Assists in identifying and Communicates quality-related trends and facilitates implementation of corrective actions
•Participates in development of profit plan and asset utilizations
•Reviews and oversees charges
•Provides input into development of capital plans
Education Minimum Requirement:
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science related field
Required Experience and Skills:
•Minimum of 5 years working in a manufacturing environment in operations, planning, or functional support role.
•Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data sets to diverse audience with varying business acumen
•Demonstrated project management and analytical skills
•Must be resilient, adaptable to change, and able to manage multiple priorities
•Proven experience in strategic planning and risk management
•Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Desired Experience and Skills:
•cGMP experience in a full scale sterile bulk or finished pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
•Production planning and/or detailed scheduling experience
•Experience in lean/six sigma and change management methodologies
•Experience with planning software such as Orchestrate
•Experience with MRP/ERP systems such as SAP
