SLI Risk Management provides risk management support and oversight for Asset Backed Finance and the six lines of business within Specialized Lending and Investment; Community Lending & Investment, Commercial Mortgage Servicing, Corporate Trust Services, Real Estate Capital Markets; Wells Fargo Multi Family Capital, and Wells Fargo Equipment Finance.

The Specialized Lending & Investment (SLI) Testing Team has an exciting opportunity on the Financial Crimes Testing Execution Team. SLI is seeking an experienced testing lead to execute regulatory testing of risks and controls relating to financial crimes, including (but not limited to) Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, and Anti-Money Laundering, as well as other Line of Business control and process risks. The Financial Crimes Consultant 4 (FCC4) will lead the execution of routine compliance reviews of the SLI financial crimes risk programs, procedures, and controls, as well as conduct validation of issues. Testing will be conducted in accordance with Corporate and Wholesale standards. This position will be required to establish and maintain strong relationships with SLI businesses and program owners for financial crimes related regulations, collaborate with compliance managers and corporate counterparts to ensure an integrated approach to financial crimes testing, and bring awareness and transparency to weaknesses detected through the testing program. The FCC4 will report directly to the SLI Financial Crimes Testing Manager.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Working with SLI lines of business to execute required BSA/OFAC compliance and operational risk testing in accordance with Regulatory Compliance Risk management (RCRM) policies and procedures.

• Displaying familiarity with and working knowledge of key aspects of SLI risks, which includes Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA PATRIOT programs, aspects of KYC, institutional banking programs, regulatory compliance, and / or other related risk and regulatory disciplines associated with a large, international financial services institution.

• Understanding of Fraud and Anti-Bribery and Corruption programs.

• Maintaining an awareness of financial crimes activity across SLI and Wholesale, and providing subject matter expertise to business projects and initiatives.

• Managing relationships and fostering a team orientation with business heads, legal, second and third lines of defense (including but not limited to the following groups: WORC, WFCRC, FCRM and WFAS).

• Collaborating with SLI lines of business and risk partners to execute required BSA/OFAC compliance and operational risk testing in accordance with Regulatory Compliance Risk management (RCRM) policies and procedures.

• Completing validation coverage activities to assess the adequacy of corrective actions that address the risk and control issues identified by regulators, WFAS, or compliance testing examinations.

• Exhibiting credible challenge and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls while maintaining professional independence throughout the testing engagement.

• Reporting of findings and providing recommendations to key stakeholders, including regulators, Audit and Control partners, Line of Business Management, and other Risk functions within SLI..

• Providing compliance expertise and potential solutions to identified gaps and associated risks as applicable to the different SLI lines of business.

• Understanding of all components of monitoring, surveillance, and testing programs.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: fraud, Bank Secrecy Act, anti money laundering, investigations of financial crimes transactions or policy violations, risk management, or compliance; or a BS/BA degree or higher in applied sciences, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance or criminal justice and 4+ years experience in the foregoing
