Who we’re looking for Toyota’s Service Parts Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Product Engineer

The primary responsibility of this role is to establish the ideal service part from a quality and cost perspective; final product is in the Part’s Catalog used by Toyota dealerships / customers to order.

Reporting to the Manager, the person in this role will support the Service Parts Engineering department's objective to ensure availability of optimal level OE replacement parts, guaranteeing part and repair quality, and managing manufacturing change points to assure no supply disruption.

What you’ll be doing

Gather parts assembly perspective from North American Manufacturing Companies (NAMC) / Supplier through Go and See and parts technical information review.
Research parts structure in internal systems, read 2D prints and technical instruction sheets and access and manipulate 3D data Gather customer voice from SPAO (ease of shipping / storing part), repair technician (ease of repair), ensure compliance of service part to the market (regulatory compliance) and end customer (landed cost and quality) Manage quality issues to resolution with supplier and customer, confirm quality and change point management with supplier Monitor and analyze market data (i.e. Customer Returns, Market Claims, and Warranty Data) to drive sustained improvement in supply chain to the end customer Develop, utilize, and update process control sheets to build group technical knowledge and help prevent quality flow out Lead QPR (Quality Problem Report) resolution and follow-up with suppliers, ensuring accurate defect disposition, sufficient root cause analysis, and effective countermeasure implementation. Conduct go-and-see activity as needed New Model Management Lead – With management consensus, identify model change content, create strategy and monitor key performance indicator(s) for section to manage completion and quality of Service Unit Determination Past Model Transfer – Manage quality approval of transfer parts to meet customer expectations

What you bring

A Bachelor in Engineering or other technical related discipline Knowledgeable with PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Sharepoint) Ability to conduct research, analyze, and build into a report

Added bonus if you have:

Experience in an automotive quality engineering environment Working knowledge of 2D, 3D drawings and design technical information in order to review parts for serviceability Experience leading cross divisional projects and activities Proficient with internal systems (SMS BR, N-SMS, Ceisar, XVL) Knowledgeable of overall vehicle structure and manufacturing processes Ability to disassemble vehicle components in order to install and evaluate service parts
