Position Overview

The Supervisor directs and coordinates assigned Bindery departmental operations within the plant, which may include Folding, Repair Table and Bundle Racks. Responsibilities include meeting plant objectives for quality, quantity, cost and delivery. The individual controls the area¿s schedule, quality control, and allocation of materials, personnel and equipment. He/she is responsible for the implementation of the safety program for the area, and is responsible for the training of employees in his/her area to include Hazardous Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and to include emergency spill response procedures, if appropriate. The Supervisor sets area production and performance goals, organizes work, and maintains a productive and motivational climate. Determines priority of jobs; completes preventive Maintenance and ensures 5S procedures.

Responsibilities

-Directs, manages and coordinates Bindery aspects of manufacturing in a timely manner.

-Prepares and monitors budgetary process. Meets department objectives for quality, productivity and cost.

-Controls area/department production schedules, quality, materials, and equipment.

-Sets production and performance goals and objectives, develops a diverse workforce, provides coaching and counseling, writes performance reviews.

-Supports 5S and PM for all equipment and systems and ensures employees are properly trained on equipment operation and proper maintenance as applicable.

-Manages safety for the department(s) and ensures that his/her area(s) work within the plant¿s general Safety and work rules.

Qualifications

Required:

BA in Business, Manufacturing or equivalent experience.

3 ¿ 5 years of experience in Bindery Operations, and/or industrial production area.

Management experience in a team-based environment.

Good computer skills in MS Office Suite.

Good verbal and written communication skills

Has demonstrated the ability to develop people.

Has served as an effective role model, either internally or externally.

Strong Safety background and experience developing and executing safety plans.

Preferred:

Experience in ¿made to order¿ business/manufacturing.

Basic knowledge of 5S methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
