Overall Purpose of Job: Experienced corporate finance professional, supporting primarily investment grade or Industry vertical lending business. Critical function of assessing risk factors associated with a credit and determining appropriate rating based on established policies and guidelines. The Director is responsible for active credit management of a designated portfolio utilizing solid credit and analytical skills. Provide continuous oversight of a designated group of portfolio names monitoring for potential upgrading, downgrading and credit deterioration with the goal of maximizing net income and reducing credit costs.
Directors are responsible for the functions listed below, to the highest degree of proficiency. Senior staff is responsible for the development of junior staff. Directors are tasked to work with minimal supervisory oversight. Portfolio management and credit analysis skills are well developed and require limited direction or supervision in preparing a “finished product.”
Responsible for the management of a segment of the General Industries portfolio, specifically focused on the Food & Beverage sector, general corporate lending portfolio.
Perform due diligence and evaluation of assigned loan portfolio on a regularly scheduled and ongoing basis. For assigned accounts, responsible for daily monitoring of company specific, market and economic factors, which may influence the internal, risk rating of borrowers.
Prepare detailed credit analyses and required credit application according to policy including evaluation of loan purpose and structure, repayment sources, corporate, regulatory and industry risk, liquidity, asset protection, historical and projected operating performance and capital structure.
Extensive modeling skills are required for both credit application process and Quarterly Credit Watch presentations.
Responsible for the coordination and communication of account information across various constituencies throughout the organization.
Responsible for knowledge of country/risk factors on a macro level.
Responsible for knowledge of standard bank products including loans, letters of credit, derivatives, foreign exchange, securitization and leasing.
Responsible for industry knowledge and all current events in assigned portfolio utilizing internal and external sources.
For assigned accounts, responsible for oversight of covenant compliance, facility closing due diligence, legal documentation and ongoing monitoring of credit conditions, if any.
Prepare hedging recommendations.
Advanced Credit/Underwriting Solutions
Work within deal team environment (with Global Relationship Management (GRM), Syndications & Securities) leading the development and analyses of financing structures/strategies to support/identify M&A and Corporate re-capitalization opportunities.
Prescreen proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks, balancing institutional policy with business development needs.
Utilize advanced portfolio management techniques to support GRM in the selection of assets, which will meet performance targets and fit the portfolio balance from a risk and return prospective.
Work on structured credit transactions (including Financial Solution opportunities, Securitizations, Leasing transactions, and up-tier proposals).
Understand and maintain base industry knowledge of industries represented in portfolio, including technical aspects, regulatory issues and unique credit product activity.
In conjunction with GRM, present credit solutions to prospective and existing clients.
Participate in client and bank meetings as necessary.
Policy and Deal Advocacy
Coordinate with GRM and Credit to develop and update Industry underwriting guidelines and risk acceptance criteria as necessary
Shape and influence policy development by participating in committees, project teams, or transaction discussions.
Communicate and negotiate with Credit Divisions (primarily CDA) for transaction approval, including final hold level strategies to ensure alignment of risk strategy and policy.
Evaluate and establish appropriate ratings for transactions and correlate appropriate exposure level with regard to exposure on both a transaction and group level.
Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements
Ensure compliance with internal policy and procedural requirements) by understanding and adhering to USCB Operating Procedures, General Credit Policies for the Americas (GCP), Procedures for Credit Ratings and Credit Rules for Overseas Offices.
Special projects as assigned.
10 years of relevant financial experience with a minimum of 7 years of corporate credit experience
Corporate finance professional with solid credit and analytical background.
Completion of formal credit-training program at a money center bank preferred.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Strong financial modeling skills a must.
Experience covering Consumer & Retail companies generally or specific coverage of Food & Beverage companies preferred
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; MBA preferred
Series 79 and 63 licenses are required
