Specialized Lending and Investments (SLI) Risk Management provides operational risk, compliance, financial crimes and business risk management services to support sound risk management for Asset Backed Finance and the six SLI, including; Community Lending & Investment, Commercial Mortgage Servicing, Corporate Trust Services, Real Estate Capital Markets; Wells Fargo Multi Family Capital, and Wells Fargo Equipment Finance within Wholesale Banking.

This position is within the Specialized Lending & Investment (SLI) Regulatory & Operational Risk Review Team. The individual will be responsible for executing against the Operational Risk and Compliance Review Activities Program for SLI, and will have accountability for executing the policies and procedures that govern the SLI Reviews, which may include testing, monitoring, assessment, and reporting components.

Position will report to the SLI Risk Compliance Review Team and work across SLI LOB stakeholder groups to ensure a systematic, disciplined, and consistent approach to the management of the SLI Risk testing program. Stakeholder groups may include Lines of Business, SLI Risk Business Risk Managers, SLI Risk Compliance Consultants, Wells Fargo Audit Services, or Corporate / Wholesale Risk Functions. The Consultant will participate in the planning, execution of review activities, and reporting of controls to ensure they are working as designed. The Consultant will perform sample testing of business activities related to identified risks and controls, work with Review Leads to enhance testing / monitoring / reporting routines, drive consistent and effective process management / improvement through suggested remediation, and may have involvement in projects (both technology and process). The Consultant will also consult with Review Leads and business partners to review defects identified during review activity execution to identify root cause of issues. The Consultant will report test findings and assist the Review Lead in the development of business cases to influence management on the need for controls to mitigate risk.

Individual responsibilities may include:

• Participate or lead in planning, scoping, reviewing, and reporting on Major Requirements assigned to the SLI Risk Review program.

• Perform or lead testing of key controls – including confirming functioning of controls, appropriate MIS, documentation, and retention of applicable records and program artifacts.

• Create remediation recommendations and work with LOB stakeholders and internal Risk partners to ensure appropriate implementation.

• Ensuring appropriate management summaries are created as scheduled, including appropriate aggregation of details and analysis / synthesis to provide stakeholders / management appropriate details and meaningful risk information resulting from testing programs.

• Documenting process improvements and creating / managing action plans.

• Ensuring alignment of controls, procedures, and testing to SLI compliance requirements, policies, and practices.

• Driving consistency of SLI practices and procedures.

• Participate or drive a risk-based test approach which ensures MR’s are performing within established thresholds and consistent with accepted risk appetite / risk tolerance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both

  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field
