Dewberry’s Carlisle office is seeking a Construction Engineer/Manager for the Construction Services group. The Construction Engineer will act as the client’s representative working closely with our clients (PennDOT, PTC, DRPA, DRJTBC, SEPTA, FAM, etc.) throughout Pennsylvania. The Construction Engineer will work closely with Dewberry’s Construction Project Manager and will ensure that proper contract adherence and inspection requirements are met; attend/conduct project control meetings; document work progress; monitor construction quality and safety; and will work as an extension of our client.
Provides services for and managing staff to carry out construction management/inspection services on bridges, roadways, transit and other transportation and intermodal facilities
Prepares, maintains and secures contract records including correspondence, contractor documents, meeting minutes, daily inspection reports, specifications, non-compliance notices, etc.
Reviews and modifies drawings, specifications, installation sequences, and progress reports and initiates corrective measures if necessary
Reviews construction procedures submitted by contractors to assure conformance with overall project plan.
Acts as technical liaison between contractor and design engineering personnel
May oversee the work of lower-level construction engineers who assist on projects
Observation and documentation of construction activities and safety procedures performed by others
Verification of compliance with construction bid and design documents
Preparation of daily, weekly and/or monthly reports
Submittal coordination and review of materials of construction, equipment, schedules, installation means and methods and operation and maintenance requirements
Review and coordination of requests for information
Meeting attendance and participation
Resolves field construction issues and provide recommendations
Coordination with multiple parties, organizations, and stakeholders including engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and clients
Development and review of work plans, design documents, change orders, engineering drawings
Cost estimating and contractor pay request reviews
Provide Quality Assurance reviews on construction projects to ensure objectives and assignments are conducted in conformance to contract documents.
Prepare and/or approve Quality Assurance Reports on field operations which may include findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
4 year degree in civil engineering or construction management or closely related field or NICET lll or lV certification is required.
Minimum 6 years of related experience on highway or bridge projects required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Previous PennDOT, PTC, DRPA, SEPTA, DRJTBC, and Local Government (FAM) experience is preferred.
Professional Engineer preferred.
Certifications in ACI, PennDOT concrete, NECEPT bituminous, NICET lll or lV and CCM are preferred.
ECMS, CDS NeXtGen or CDS-V3
Must possess strong computer literacy skills, i.e., Microsoft Office, etc.
