The Communications and Marketing department supports the achievement of priorities in SAIT's strategic plan, tells SAIT’s story, enhances our brand and executes on marketing strategy across SAIT, in collaboration with schools and departments. As the Senior Web and Development Specialist, you will contribute to and implement the annual digital website plan, ensuring alignment with overall divisional priorities and the strategic goals of SAIT. You will manage the work flow for 5 team members who will look to you for guidance, education and support to achieve annual performance goals. You have excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, working independently to determine and implement appropriate fixes to resolve client’s needs. You possess the proven ability to prioritize projects and assign tasks to team members, meeting tight timelines. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the technical implementation of strategic SAIT web initiatives

  • Support of custom-created web application environments and infrastructure

  • Manage integration of web properties such as Banner-related systems, Acalog, and other SAIT enterprise systems,

  • Research emerging user experience and web developmenttrends and best practices to make recommendations

  • Assess change management requirements for deploying new or improved technologies, standards and practices

  • Assist in the development of innovative tools to increase response times and effectively manage requests and issues

  • Help manage the day to day workgroup activities, assigning team tasks to ensure optimum performance of key web properties and identifying barriers to improve collective performance

  • Manage and oversee backend development of web components and enhancements within the Content Management System (CMS)

  • Manage relationships with third party vendors for technical improvements and project deliverables

  • Identify client and stakeholder needs and priorities, collaborate to generate solutions and make decisions

  • Plan, schedule and allocate adequate resources (people, materials, tools) to effectively and efficiently meet team and institutional objectives

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree with specialization in Web Development or demonstrated experience in a related field

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in post-secondary environment

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Ingeniux Content Management System

  • Experience with SEO, Google Analytics, and Google Webmaster

  • Experience with Digital Architecture’s software suite and creating web templates

  • Proficient with the following web development technologies and tools:

  • .NET, HTML, CSS3, PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, JSON, Responsive Web Design, My SQL, Google API’s, XML, XSLT

  • Excellent knowledge of user experience (UX) design and best practices

  • Experience with managing the needs of stakeholders and audiences

  • Proficient in cross-browser, cross platform development, working with and improving upon custom made CMS

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment

  • Must be able to effectively manage competing priorities
