Responsible for conducting non-complex tests to evaluate, troubleshoot devices. This role will also provide product testing and repair of component equipment. This role will serve as an internal resource for technical testing applications. Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying established standards; knowledge based acquired from many years of experience in particular area. Works independently. General work direction is given and completed assignments and/or work is reviewed to ensure compliance with processes, standards and policies of the organization.
Conduct non-complex design of devices, test methods equipment, and electrical components. Conduct in the design and performs test plans to ensure accurate and consistent product Lab testing. Perform systems testing, verification and work to resolve issues, Wireless Gateway, EMS Server and their related Test Equipment Conducts non-complex prototype product, equipment and component tests, system simulations and software functional program tests. Follows established testing processes and procedures to ensure reliability, accuracy and thorough gathering and analysis of data. Evaluates products and devices for environmental and application conditions. Performs simulation tests. Writes non-complex code to automate test set-ups and procedures. Supports hardware and software design engineers to test product for performance compliance. Maintains knowledge of existing, current and newly developed base station products and components. Assist with creation of Test Plan, Trouble Reports, automation scripts, MOP, etc. & generate of problem reports, and insuring the satisfactory resolution of all problems. Interfaces with software/hardware design groups and provides assistance for their activities of debugging and resolution. Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies through attendance and participation at conferences and by reading technical journals, publications and Website technical resources. Applies technical information to analyze and develop current and future products. Prepares reports, compiles and analyzes data, and engineering information for the effective communication of processes, results, plans, recommendations and conclusions.
Necessary Skills / Attributes
Bachelor's Degree in engineering with 5+ years of directly related experience is required. Prior experience in telecommunications engineering activities a plus. Must be able to write, read, analyze and interpret technical journals and procedures. Must be able to speak in mathematical terms (vectors, complex numbers and logarithms are commonly used as references). Must have experience with Clearcase/DDTS, CORBA ORB, Exceed, Paradym+, Visio, Visual, Java, C++, MS project and other MS Office products. Must have PC and UNIX Workstation experience in a LAN/WAN systems environment.
The ability to development and maintain excellent working relationships with multiples levels within the company and with external contacts including carrier customers, authorized service agents, sales & equipment service representatives, etc. Must be able to influence others in acceptance, approval and to provide technical clarification. The ability to gather and analyze data from multiple sources, prepare spreadsheets, charts, graphs and tables of information and to plan and prioritize multiple work assignments. The ability to read, write and provide critical technical review and prepare reports, technical manuals, test procedures and technical product repair information. Demonstrated English language competency in both oral and written communication modes for both internal and external communications, especially in training of repair technicians communications of troubleshooting techniques. Work under very little supervision and guidance to identify and ensure achievement of production team goals and to complete individual work assignments within established time frames. The demonstrated ability to solve problems involving highly diverse conditions requiring creativity to search for solutions among learned things. Exposed to situations where only broad and general guidelines for solving problems exist. Job duties require analysis and judgment of functional practices and daily experiences be used to determine appropriate courses of action.
