General Description

Summary / Overview:

Ensures reliable inventories to sustain production in a foundry fabrication operation. Requires a blend of skills and experience specifically focused on the inventory management of raw materials. Supply Chain Logistics Analysis and Lean Six Sigma processes are essential to this position. Analyzes inventory processes, oversight and technical expertise for inventory operations, Supply Chain KPI tracking, and develops logistics systems. Responsible for liaison between third party contracted warehouses including scheduling of deliveries, monitoring GRs, deliveries to SAS, and cycle counts. Responsible for reporting inventory accuracy and researching and identifying underlying causes of variances, and formulates corrective actions at third party contracted warehouses. Coordinates with Procurement and SDSA regarding delivery coordination. Candidate must possess a proven track record of successfully developing logistics processes and functions in a fast-paced and growing environment.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Excellent understanding of Supply Chain Management principles and ability to apply statistical and qualitative methods to optimize inventory. Establishes metrics and KPIs to monitor success.

  • Creates and produces a series of inventory reports on daily, weekly, and monthly basis to meet department goals

  • Performs causative research and documents inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and offer possible solutions.

  • Provides oversight of inventory operations; technical SME for SOPs, inventory processes, etc

  • Regularly monitors inventory control workflow and the execution of assigned inventory processes

  • Develops inventory control processes

  • Develops logistics management systems

  • Benchmarks new logistics developments

  • Monitor and ensures FIFO delivery of raw materials onto SAS

  • Identify areas of improvement for raw material logistics

  • Other responsibilities as needed

Necessary Skills / Attributes

Education, Training, Certification(s):

  • 4-year degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or Business related field required

  • Lean, Six Sigma, APICS CPIM, or CPSM certifications preferred

  • MUST have 1-2 years' minimum experience with demonstrated success in inventory analysis, production control, materials management, or material planning in a manufacturing environment

  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills; effective communication

  • Ability to analyze large volumes of data and provide issue resolution to closure

  • Highly detail-oriented

  • Ability to influence up, down, and across the organization

  • Excellent critical thinking skills; recognize third and fourth order effects of a catalyst event

  • Solid problem solving and analytical skills; recognize friction points and resolve delays in material delivery

  • Skilled in MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Advanced Excel data analysis skills—required

  • Ability to take a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and achieving results

  • SAP Material Management a plus
