My client is currently seeking a Sr. Revenue Manager/ Controller to manage the contract review and revenue close. This includes reviewing customer contracts to ensure compliance with company policies as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including those specific rules detailed below. This individual will work closely with business owners to provide guidance on contract terms that will provide favorable revenue recognition. Additionally, he/she will work closely with the General Ledger (GL) team to ensure contracts are recorded completely, accurately, and in accordance with GAAP in the financial statements. This person will also be responsible for preparing the company for the adoption of the new revenue recognition standard. This position will manage a team of employees. This individual will report directly to the Controller.   • Review new customer contracts and apply revenue recognition rules appropriately

  • Maintain and review best practices in the contract review process

  • Prepare and maintain revenue accounting policies and memos

  • Maintain and update the company's VSOE and BESP Analysis annually

  • Prepare/update the implied PCS analysis quarterly

  • Pre-validate revenue prior to running in the system

  • Supervise and mentor staff and review their work

  • Perform various month end reviews to ensure cutoff procedures are in place and revenue is recognized in the correct accounting period

  • Review journal entries for the revenue process

  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations associated with the revenue process (i.e. deferred revenue, unearned AR, unbilled AR)

  • Primary liaison with internal and external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits.

  • Assess the new revenue recognition standard and assist the company in adopting the standard

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (MBA or MAcc a plus)

  • Detailed knowledge of relevant accounting rules (e.g. SAB 104, ASC 605-25 [including ASU 2009-13, ASU 2009-14 (f.k.a. EITF 08-1, EITF 09-3)], ASC 985-605 (SOP 97-2), ASC 605-35) relating to software, SaaS and services revenue recognition, multiple-element arrangements, and POC accounting.

  • Strong work ethic and problem solving skills

  • Strong Excel skills Desired Characteristics

  • CPA License

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting

  • 5+ years of experience accounting for software revenue and multiple element arrangements

  • 5+ years of experience managing people

  • Public accounting experience, Big 4 a plus

  • Experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP

  • Previous experience working with a multi-national publicly traded company

  • Very process oriented with experience documenting processes and implementing processes

  • Previous experience in a fast growing software company is a plus

  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems

  • Able to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
