Part-time faculty members scheduled to work eight (8) or more class contact hours per week over a fifteen (15) week term, or the equivalent thereof for short courses and summer term, are benefits eligible. This is a Part-Time teaching position. Being hired into the regular part-time instructor pool is not a guarantee of employment. Classes are assigned on an as-needed basis dependent on student enrollment. Applicants are reviewed after the posting closing date.

Duties and Responsibilities:

An instructor is responsible for providing high quality instruction so that each student may meet course outcomes. Collaborate with the Dean and colleagues to improve the student learning experience.

Instructional Duties:

Responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning in courses assigned. Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs. Maintain student records and provide documentation for incompletes within established College timelines. Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes. Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes.

Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes. Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate. Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries. Provide assistance to students outside the classroom through posted office hours. Attend in-service sessions, college/school/department meetings, graduation and convocation as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Requirements::

  • Must be a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time clinical experience

Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check.



  • Must have current knowledge of sonographic techniques.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Registered in the learning concentrations of abdomen AND/OR obstetrics/gynecology AND/ OR fetal echo.

  • Registered in vascular AND/OR cardiac (adult, pediatric, or fetal), AND/OR breast, AND/OR neuro sonography.

  • Experience working with a non-traditional, diverse student population.

  • Experience as an instructor of record in post-secondary teaching environment.

  • Experience teaching full-term courses in any of the following high-need areas in the department: Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  • Teaching experience within the last five years.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of current issues, trends, and developments in Diagnostic Medical Sonography instruction.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of teaching methods including lecture, discussion, collaborative learning and individualized instruction.

Work Schedule:

Schedule may include days, evenings, and/or weekends, as assigned and needed. Schedule will vary from term to term.

Additional Comments

This position reports to the Associate Dean for Allied Health and Diagnostics Programs of the School of Health, Wellness, and Public Safety.

In addition to teaching duties, which are outlined above, instructors will maintain contact with the associate dean, maintain a high level of contact with faculty in their discipline, support and attend meetings. Successful completion of job duties and responsibilities requires computer literacy.

An instructor is also responsible for working with the associate dean and colleagues to improve student learning experiences. CNM respects, requires, and depends on the service part-time faculty members perform.
