CNM hires both "two-term" and "three-term" instructors dependent upon program needs. Two-term instructors teach fall and spring terms (9 month contract) and three-term instructors teach fall, spring, and summer terms (12 month contract).
This is a three-term teaching position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
CNM faculty are vital to our vision of "changing lives, building community." This is evidenced by a commitment to teaching and learning that supports our goals of student success, increased student retention and graduation. Faculty are responsible for providing high quality instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners so that each student may meet course outcomes and their educational goals. Full-time faculty are also expected to perform college service in addition to the duties, listed below. This service beyond instruction is integral to the collaborative and innovative work we engage in with our internal and external community members to continuously improve the student learning experience, organizational excellence, and community success. The incumbent is responisble for creating and organizing a learning environment for comprehensive Automotive and Diesel Technology programs.
Responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning in courses assigned. Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs. Maintain student records and provide documentation for incompletes within established College timelines. Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes.
Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes. Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate. Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries. Provide assistance to students outside the classroom through posted office hours.
Incorporate, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments. Regularly participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field; maintain current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation. Attend in-service sessions, college/school/department meetings, graduation and convocation as required. Provide for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials and maintain safe working conditions. Participate in the development and review of course and program outcomes. Instructors may be assigned other instructional responsibilities as determined by the Dean.
A minimum of five (5) out of the last ten (10) years experience in the Automotive repair or training field
Associate degree from an accredited institution
Current ASE Master Automotive Technician certification
Current knowledge of industry issues and practices
Computer literate with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to relate to and instruct a traditional and non-traditional diverse student population
Demonstrated commitment to participate in technical update training
Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check.
ASE Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician certification
Experience providing technical education in a classroom/small group setting
Demonstrated committment to the community
Advanced computer knowledge to include website development, distance learning environments, etc.
Curriculum development experience
Hybrid vehicle experience
Light duty diesel experience
Days, evenings and weekends as assigned based on the needs of the college.

As part of the interview process, candidates will perform a teaching demonstration.
This position reports to the Dean of the School of Applied Technologies. Instructors provide excellent instruction to achieve high academic standards in a supportive, student-centered, community college environment. Instructors employ a variety of teaching methods in order to achieve student success. In addition to teaching duties, which are outlined in detail above, instructors will maintain contact with the dean, maintain a high level of contact with faculty in their discipline, support and attend meetings, and perform other duties as assigned. Successful completion of job duties and responsibilities requires computer literacy.
College, School, Program/Discipline Service includes, but is not limited to:
-Active participation in school and college activities (such as, but not limited to, developing new curriculum or student recruitment).
Collaboration with faculty and staff from other schools/departments to promote communication, coordinate schedules, and support student success.
Collaboration with high schools, universities, business and industry or external agencies as appropriate, and assist with program advisory committees as requested.
Supporting collegiality by actively participating in the professional development of new and veteran faculty (for example, mentoring, peer observations).
Serving on department, school, and college committees and task teams.
Participating in and assisting with student activities and clubs.
An instructor is responsible for providing high quality instruction so that each student may meet course outcomes. An instructor is also responsible for working with the dean and colleagues to improve student learning experiences. In fulfillment of their compensated workload and in addition to their normal duties (listed above) full-time instructors are expected to perform school, program/discipline and college service (listed above). This service beyond instruction is an integral part of college faculty performance. CNM respects, requires, and depends on the service full-time faculty members perform.
Instructors must meet the learning needs of a diverse student population, prepare lessons, grade exams, and conduct office hours. Assist in curriculum development and perform other related duties as assigned. To ensure compliance with federal and college requirements, some mandatory training must be completed for this position. In addition, the selected candidate will be required to successfully complete CNM's New Faculty Institute during the first 2 terms of employment.
